Florida Gators Football: Looking Ahead to the Towson Tigers

Now the Florida Gators move into week 5 of their season currently sitting in the top 10. This upcoming week they welcome the Towson Tigers to the Swamp. This game many will say it is another cupcake for the Gators. On the other hand, this is a trap game for them.

Now I am not saying the Tigers are going to win. The Gators have the beef of their scheduling coming up after this game. They will have the Auburn Tigers, LSU Tigers, and Georgia Bulldogs not to forget the South Carolina Gamecocks as well. Many fans do not want to see FBS teams playing against FCS teams. Earlier this year the Gators hosted the UT Martin Skyhawks. This game drew the lowest attendance at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium since 1990 the Skyhawks game drew 80,007.

Towson Tigers (3-1)

The Tigers come into this game at 3-1 but could likely be 4-0. They lost last week in overtime to Villanova Wildcats. All but one of their games have been close games. The only one that has not would be week two against the NC Central Eagles which they defeated 42-3. Now like all I-AA schools they will also benefit finically from this trip to the Swamp. Like the Skyhawks, it will be an uphill battle for the Tigers. They like many will not play a team like the caliber of the Florida Gators. But they cannot be overlooked. This game is important to both teams it will help the Tigers get back to I-AA playoffs for the fourth time in nine seasons. Like the Skyhawks, the Tigers will take home $500,000. This will help the Tigers like it did the Skyhawks with travel.

Florida Gators (4-0)

Other than the Feleipe Franks injury against the Kentucky Wildcats it has been peachy in Gainesville. The Gators had a tester early in the season against the Miami Hurricanes. Just two weeks ago another one of those nail-bitter games happened in Lexington as they Wildcats nearly won back to back against the Gators.

Last week we got to see Kyle Trask who looked as cool and calm as you could be dissecting the Tennessee Volunteers defense. He showed Gators nation that the offense is still efficient. The only thing that they haven’t been able to do is run the ball. The Gators do not need to overlook the Tigers. This game will help them get back to Atlanta for a shot at the SEC Championship. The next four weeks after this game will determine their season. Look for them to come out and dominate as they have been.

The Gators should come out and dominate this game. They should use this as a warmup for what is to come during SEC play. The Tigers even if they lose should also gain some experience in hopes that whatever the result is can help them still make it to the playoffs. Let see how this game turns out but in the end, barring major injury on the side of the Gators it should be an easy win.
