Los Angeles Rams Hang On Against the Cleveland Browns

Juston Burris picked off Jared Goff with 2:54 remaining in the fourth quarter down 20-13 for the Cleveland Browns. Cleveland had the ball in the red zone against the Los Angeles Rams late. The Browns called some horrendous plays and because of that,  Baker Mayfield threw an interception to John Johnson with 27 seconds remaining. The Rams leading rusher was Todd Gurley with 43 yards on 14 carries. Their leading receiver was Brandin Cooks with eight receptions for 112 yards receiving. Cooks also rushed for eight yards on one carry.

Greg Zuerlein also made a 37-yard field goal in the fourth-quarter for Los Angeles. He also made one from 53 yards out in the first quarter.

Austin Seibert made two field goals for the Cleveland Browns from 23 and 35 yards out.

With the Los Angeles Rams trailing 6-3 in the third quarter, Jared Goff threw an 11-yard touchdown pass to Cooper Kupp.

Later in the third quarter, Baker Mayfield threw a 2-yard touchdown pass to Demetrius Harris. That was his only reception in the game. Mayfield completed 18-of-36 passes for 195 yards one touchdown and one interception. He also rushed for -1 yards on one carry.

Nick Chubb was Cleveland’s leading rusher with 96 yards on 23 carries. He also caught four passes for 35 yards receiving.

The Browns leading receiver was Jarvis Landry with three receptions for 62 yards receiving. Odell Beckham Jr. caught six passes for 56 yards receiving.

Cleveland’s offense has a ton of problems right now and they are not living up to expectations. In fact, part of the issue is their offensive line and Baker Mayfield has no time to throw the ball down the field. Thus he is basically on the run for every play.

It isn’t going to get any easier for this football team. The only thing going for them is how bad the AFC North is this season. The Pittsburgh Steelers and the Cincinnati Bengals are both 0-3 to start the season.

As for the Los Angeles Rams, they play in a tough NFC West with the Seattle Seahawks and the San Francisco 49ers. Although Los Angeles doesn’t have to worry about the Arizona Cardinals much.

Aaron Donald was a beast all night for the Rams. He recorded a sack and Clay Matthews had two sacks.

Myles Garrett and Larry Ogunjobi each recorded a sack for the Browns.

It will be interesting to see if Cleveland responded positively after another loss to this high expectation season. In fact, a lot of fans were frustrated with Freddie Kitchens’s play call. He will have to better later on in the season if this team wants to be better.

The Cleveland Browns (1-2) will be on the road to face the Baltimore Ravens (2-1) next Sunday in an AFC North showdown.

The Los Angeles Rams (3-0) will face a pesky Tampa Bay Buccaneers  (1-2) at home next Sunday.
