Tampa Bay Buccaneers: A Look Ahead to the New York Giants
The NFL now moves into week 3. Over the next few weeks, we will see who the good teams are. One of the divisions that just got turned upside down the NFC South. The New Orleans Saints suffered a huge injury just this past week. Quarterback Drew Brees hurt his thumb on his throwing hand by hitting the hand of Rams DT Aaron Donald. The Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton hasn’t been himself all season. He just reinjured the foot injury that bothers him during pre-season. The Atlanta Falcons got their first win last week on a Julio Jones 54-yard touchdown. They were able to overcome and beat the Philadelphia Eagles which they had close games over the past few years. That leaves the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and they just got their first win of the Bruce Arians era. Now they host the New York Giants.
The Giants made a huge announcement just a day ago. They decided to make a change at quarterback now starting the first-round pick Daniel Jones at quarterback instead of Eli Manning. Manning has won two Super Bowls with Giants both wins coming over the New England Patriots. He has struggled the past few years. Many of the fans wanted him gone a long time ago. Those same fans were shocked when they drafted Daniel Jones. The Giants have one of the most versatile players in the NFL in running back Saquon Barkley. Barkley is the focus of the offense since the Giants traded Odell Beckham Jr. during the offseason to the Cleveland Browns. The Giants come into week 3 with 0-2 record losing in week 1 35-17 to the Dallas Cowboys. In week 2 they were defeated at home by the Buffalo Bills 28-14.
They don’t have an offense and their defense has not been good either. This was the right move it time to move on from Eli Manning. Now the team can focus on Daniel Jones and Saquon Barkley as a young nucleus. The rookie will face a Buccaneer defense that beat up Cam Newton last week. Let see how they do.
The Buccaneers, in my opinion, should be 2-0 right now. But they are 1-1 instead. In week 1 at home, they should have beat the San Francisco 49ers. It was two pick-sixes that cost them the game. Jameis Winston threw three total interceptions in the game. The Buccaneer defense held the 49ers offense to just 17 points. In week 2 on a short week, they went on the road to play the Panthers. The defense looked great and had Cam Newton under pressure all night. Defensive coordinator Todd Bowles had blitzes coming from everywhere. The offense scored points and limited the mistakes from the first game. The biggest play came on a fourth goal on the 1 and a half yard line. The Panthers were trying to get a game-winning touchdown. They were able to hold Christian Mccaffrey out of the end zone and win the game.
Now they were probably game-planning for Eli Manning but now they have the rookie Daniel Jones. This game should be a win for them if they can avoid the mistakes, they made in week 1 and they should come out of week 3 with a 2-1 record. The Buccaneers should be able to make a run-up in the standings in the NFC South.
