USF Bulls: A Look Ahead to the Game Against the SCS Bulldogs
The USF Bulls return to Raymond James Stadium for week 3. They are coming off back to back losses. The current losing streak is at 8 after dropping the last 6 games from 2018. In the game against Wisconsin Badgers, the Bulls were outplayed in all aspects. Last week against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets the Bulls lost on a fumble near the goal line. The call that was made could have gone either way. Now head coach Charlie Strong has to get them back on track. They have the South Carolina State Bulldogs coming into town. The Bulldogs are currently 2-o while the Bulls are 0-2. Something will have to give as kickoff is scheduled at 6:05 PM. The weather might play another factor as there rain in the forecast. Lightning delayed the game against the Badgers by an hour.
The Bulldogs currently have a record of two-0. In those two games, they have only allowed 13 points. In their first game, they defeated Wofford 28-13. The Bulldogs second game was against Lane in which they shut them out 34-0. Their defense has been great so far only allowing one touchdown in eight quarters. On the slip side, the Bulldogs offense has scored on all nine trips to the red-zone. Those trips have included seven touchdowns. One disadvantage is the size of their offensive and defensive lines. The offensive line averaged 287-pounds and the defensive line averaged 274-pounds. If the Bulldogs give the Bulls some trouble look for the UCF Knights fans to start chirping because the Knights have shut out the Bulldogs twice 38-0. On paper, this looks like a mismatch but look the Bulldogs to possibly pull off an upset.
For Bulls fans, this not how they wanted to start the season off. Now most of knew the Badgers would have our number. But for us not score any points was not a good start. So after the beat down head coach Charlie Strong said we need to learn from it and get ready for the Yellow Jackets. Heading on the road for the first time this season in Atlanta. The Bulls defense once again, for the most part, did their job. They gave the offense chances to score. Many will say that the fumble that Jordan Cronkrite had late in the game was a touchdown. The officials didn’t see it that way and gave the ball to the Yellow Jackets. In which they were able to run the clock out and come out with a revenge victory.
The USF Bulls now could be making a change at quarterback. Jordan McCloud has come at the end of both of the first two games and has shined. The game against the Badgers he led the Bulls down in an attempt to get a field goal but the Bulls missed it. He also had the final few drives against the Yellow Jackets and did well. So let see how Charlie Strong once to go against the Bulldogs. Let all us Bulls fans hope we get our first win of 2019. After this game, we have a bye and then begin conference play which will not be god going into 0-3.
