Denver Nuggets: Striking it Rich as They Head Into Training Camp

The Denver Nuggets overachieved last season. Denver finished with the second-best record in the Western Conference last season. The Nuggets made it to the playoffs for the first time since the 2012-2013 season. Head Coach Mike Malone did a tremendous job with this team last season and Denver has a bright future ahead of them.

They defeated the San Antonio Spurs in the first round of the playoffs last season in seven games. The Denver Nuggets lost to the Portland Trail Blazers at home in Game 7 last season.

Denver will also be one of the more interesting teams to watch in the NBA this season. It might be tough for them to get a top-two seed out west this season, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see them get home-court advantage in the first round this season.

With the Golden State Warriors being depleted, the Nuggets believe they are the best team out west heading into the 2019-2020 season even though other teams in the conference got better like the Los Angeles Clippers, the Los Angeles Lakers, the Utah Jazz, and the Houston Rockets.

The Nuggets did not make any changes to the roster in the offseason. They hope that forward/guard Michael Porter Jr. will be healthy this season for them. He missed the entire 2018-2019 season due to back issues. Porter Jr. was the 14th overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft. He played college basketball for one season at the University of Missouri.

If Michael Porter Jr. lives up to expectations, he could make this team even more dangerous. At one point in time, a lot of people anticipated that Porter Jr. would be a Top 5 pick in the NBA Draft.

The projected starting lineup will be (C) Nikola Jokic, (PF) Paul Millsap, (SF) Will Barton, (SG) Gary Harris, and (PG) Jamal Murray.

Key players off the bench will be (G) Malik Beasley, (C) Bol Bol, (F) Jerami Grant, (G) Monte Morris, (F/C) Mason Plumlee, (F) Michael Porter Jr., and (F) Jarred Vanderbilt.

Jokic is one of the best players in the NBA. He is one of the most consistent players in the NBA. Nikola Jokic can walk on the court on any given night and score 20 points and grab 17 rebounds. He is also a very underrated passer as well. Jokic had over 10 triple-doubles last season and he will most likely have more of them this season. Nikola Jokic is 24 years old.

Gary Harris and Jamal Murray are one of the most underrated backcourts in the NBA. Murray signed a contract extension this offseason and he is only 22 years old. Harris is 24 years old.

Millsap decided to come back for another season and he is 34 years old.

The Denver Nuggets have not announced a date yet for training camp. They have not won an NBA Title in franchise history.

Denver was in the ABA Finals back in 1975-1976 and they lost to the New York Nets in six games.

The preseason will begin for the Nuggets on Tuesday, October 8 on the road against the Portland Trail Blazers at the Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Portland, Oregon.

Denver will begin the season on the road against the Portland Trail Blazers at the Moda Center in Portland on Wednesday, October 23. The Denver Nuggets will have their home opener against the Phoenix Suns on Friday, October 25.
