USF Bulls: Good, Bad, and Ugly vs Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets
The USF Bulls were trying to overcome a blowout loss to the Wisconsin Badgers. The fans all turned the page and got ready for the game in Atlanta. The Bulls defeated the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets last year in Tampa. The game was a very exciting game ending a 49-38 final. The Bulls had kick returner Terrence Horne return two kickoffs for 96 and 97 yards to help that win. They also were able to cause turnovers one at the end of the game to ice it. This game was back and forth this year. This time the Yellow Jackets would get revenge and send the Bulls to an eight-game losing streak defeating them 14-10. Here is the good, bad and ugly from Georgia Tech vs USF.
The Good: Georgia Tech run game
Last week the Bulls gave up 249 yards on the ground. This week the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets would use both their running backs and quarterbacks. We all know that before this year the Yellow Jackets ran the triple-option offense. This year with new head coach Geoff Collins has come in and know what kind of team he has. Collins knew he had a great running attack. Last year the Yellow Jackets use that running attack and almost won. The reason it didn’t lead to a victory was a late turnover. The Yellow Jackets bounce back from losing to the defending champions the Clemson Tigers. Now the Yellow Jackets can you use the mix of quarterback and running back attack for the rest of 2019.
The Bad: Blake Barnett
Barnett once again struggled in Kerwin Bell offense. Now, this is a surprise because during the fall and spring Barnett was doing well. Last year Barnett was a big part of the why the Bulls defeated the Yellow Jackets. This year outside of a 48-yard run he was quiet. He once again just like against the Badgers he threw no touchdown passes. Barnett also had no rushing touchdown for the second game in a row. He was once aging replaced later in the game by Jordan McCloud. McCloud out them in place once again to win the game. I would not be surprised to see McCloud start next week against South Carolina State. Barnett has looked flat in both games so far this year, but he could improve.
The Ugly: Bulls lose again
The streak is now at eight. This was the closest to a win that the Bulls have had. They were down near the goal line and fumble the ball away after they thought they scored. The defense once again just like against the Badgers they gave the offense chances to score. Moving to this upcoming Saturday the Bulls need to extend drives. They had too many punts this year as they have only scored 10 total points this year. Maybe Jordan McCloud is the answer it might be just to have a fresh clean start. I am hoping to see the Bulls get their first win this upcoming Saturday as it was hard to watch them being blown out at the last game I attended as a media member.
