NCAA: Predicting the Winners of the Power 5 Conferences

As a huge football fan, the college football season is right around the corner. So, with every season comes a chance for a new champion. The last few years it has been the Alabama Crimson Tide and Clemson Tigers. Of course, it seems that the playoff system is working. The committee has chosen the right teams since the playoffs started. The teams that are not in the Power 5 conferences are left out. Those teams feel that they should be given a shot at the National Championship. Well, it is prediction time. Here are my picks for the Power 5 Conferences.

SEC: Alabama Crimson Tide

This is probably a no brainer. There are a few teams that might have a shot to knock the Crimson Tide off the top of the mountain. The Florida Gators, Georgia Bulldogs, LSU Tigers, and Texas A&M Aggies. Nick Saban has reloaded again. The Crimson Tide seems to lose many players to the draft. Look for the Crimson Tide to play with revenge on their minds at getting back at the Clemson Tigers.

ACC: Clemson Tigers

The Tigers are the defending National Champions. Like the Crimson Tide, they can lose players to the NFL and still be a good team. Dabo Swinney, like Saban, can recruit the best high school players. The ACC has a few teams that could challenge the Tigers. Those teams are the Syracuse Orangeman, Miami Hurricanes and North Carolina State Wolfpack. The Tigers will be right back playing for it all at the end of the year.

Big 12: Oklahoma Sooners

The Sooners won the conference a year ago. They played the Georgia Bulldogs in the Rose Bowl and lost. Now their quarterback Kyler Murray was the number one overall pick in the NFL draft. With the transfer portal, the Sooners acquired Jalen Hurts who was at Alabama. Many say that the Sooners will have three straight Heisman Trophy winners. They only have the Texas Longhorns that might be the ones who derail them.

Big 10: Michigan Wolverines

The Wolverines will need to beat the Ohio State Buckeyes. The Buckeyes now have Ryan O’Day as a head coach. Urban Meyer steps down and became the assistant athletic director. This is the best chance they have of winning the Big Ten. They will have the Michigan State Spartans, Ohio State Buckeyes, and the Penn State Nittany Lions to contend with. It will be the Wolverines or Buckeyes that win the conference but this is the year of Big Blue.

Pac 12: Utah Utes

This is a bold pick. They lost last year to the Washington Huskies in the championship game. The Utes will be challenged by the USC Trojans, Washington Huskies, and Stanford Cardinal. The Utes were a surprise team a year ago and look for them to have another solid season. Will the Utes be a team that changes it all when it comes to the Championship game. Let’s see what happens with all the teams.
