NFC East: Ranking the Teams by Their Quarterback
The NFC East has some of the best QBs in the game come through the division. Troy Aikman (Dallas Cowboys), Donovan McNabb (Philadelphia Eagles), and Joe Theismann (Washington Redskins) are just a few. The state of the division, as it stands now, is not as good as it has been. Especially when it comes to QB play. Nonetheless, the teams are still competitive. Here is a look at how the division ranks by the quarterback.
Case Keenum/Dwayne Haskins – Washington Redskins
Keenum is playing on his third team in three years. Haskins is a fresh new face. One that the Redskins are hoping to make the face of the franchise for years to come. Either way, this position will need to be extraordinary for the Redskins in 2019. Unfortunately, the lack of weaponry on the outside could be an Achilles heel for whoever plays quarterback in 2019. This is why they are fourth in the NFC East.
Eli Manning – New York Giants
Manning is entering his 16th season as the quarterback of the Giants. He has been the face the NFC East during his tenure on the east coast. In fact, he is has earned a reputation as a “Patriots Killer”. Stemming from his two come from behind victories in the Super Bowl against the New England Patriots. However, Manning is now on the backside of his career. Thus placing him as the third QB in the NFC East.
Carson Wentz – Philadelphia Eagles
Wentz has not completed the past two seasons. I wanted to place him as the top quarterback in the NFC East. Nevertheless, without completing the last two seasons, it is hard to do such a task. When Wentz is healthy, he most certainly could be considered for the top spot in the division. Nevertheless, heading into 2019, Wentz is the second best in the NFC East.
Dak Prescott – Dallas Cowboys
Prescott has been a pleasant surprise since the Cowboys drafted him in the 4th round of the 2016 NFL Draft. He is now playing his way into a franchise type contract. Prescott has a winning record since taking over the Cowboys (32-16). He is also a two-time NFC East Champion. Without Dak Prescott the Dallas Cowboys are not in the position they are currently in.
The NFC East is always known as one of the toughest divisions in football. It has mostly been known for the ground and pound of its running backs. However, the quarterback of each franchise has played significant roles at times. Therefore, keeping this as one of the toughest divisions from top to bottom.
