2019 Masters: Tiger Woods Returns to Winning After a Long Stretch

The 2019 Masters was full of excitement all week. Many of the top players in the world played well. One of the biggest question coming into the week was could Tiger Woods win another major? So many of the young stars grew up watching Woods and dreaming to play with him. The tournament had holes in one and many great shots. On Saturday was one of the best scoring days even at the Masters. The players were grinding it out all week. The players were up early for the final round because of the incoming storms in the state of Georgia.

The world of golf got shook once again. Tiger works his way around the course for the first three days. He found himself in the final threesome on Sunday. All he had to do, as the commentators said, is just play his game. In the past when Tiger was looming the players were hearing the roars and they would come back down to earth. It had not been seen for a long time. In fact, the last time he won a major was 11 years ago.

He was trailing until the back nine started. At the time the leader was Francesco Molinari. The other player in Woods 3-some was Tony Finau. Finau was just a few shots behind Molinari and making a push towards the lead. However, Molinari’s mistake would come at the par 3 12th hole. He would hit his tee shot in the water. This was the opening that Tiger needed. He took advantage of it hitting a good shot.

He was now in the lead by 2 with three holes left. Another player, Brooks Koepka, was the one having a shot at him. Nonetheless, he made a mistake at 15 and he would never recover. Thus, finishing 1 shot behind. All Tiger needed to do was make a 5 on the final hole. As the final putt went into the hole he was so excited. We, as golf fans, hadn’t seen that in 11 years. He walked around, found his caddy, and said, “We Did It”!

Woods walked up the hill and hugged his kids, mom, and his girlfriend. This was reminiscent of the moment of seeing him hug his father in 1997 when he won his first Masters and now he hugged his young son Charlie after winning his 5th. This was great for the game of golf. The question of Tiger Woods being back is answered with an astounding yes!
