Game Of Thrones: The End Of An Era

“When you play the Game of Thrones, you win or you die.” For the HBO T.V. series Game of Thrones, the show for almost a decade has been winning. While other shows have died out, the show based on George R.R. Martin’s books has been on the Iron Throne of the entertainment world. The show unlike others of this time makes the world stop when it comes on to watch it and owns the top spot in thousands of viewers hearts.

Since the first episode of Season One, the viewership had always been high including 2.5 million for the first showing on a Sunday night. Season Seven’s finale grossed 16.5 million viewers leaving fans hanging for over a year for a new season. Winter is here and Game of Thrones Season Eight will begin April 14th of 2019.

With many unanswered questions for all the fans, the show has so much to finish in a short six episodes. What will be the fate of characters like Jon Snow, Daenerys Targaryen, Tyrion Lannister, Cersei Lannister, and Arya Stark? What about others like Jamie Lannister, Brienne of Tarth, Bran Stark, Theon Greyjoy, and Sansa Stark? Will we see the Clegane Bowl between the Hound and the Mountain? What about the Night King, the White Walkers, and the Ice Dragon approaching Winterfell? Will they rule over the Seven Kingdoms? Only time will tell and it is coming.

Of course, many fan theories are out and have all kinds of possibilities. Some have Daenerys on the throne with her two dragons and her army, while others have Jon Snow sitting on the throne. Few fans may think that Cersei Lannister may end up on it for good. All these are possible, including the possibility that it all ends with the Night King taking the Iron Throne and everyone else ends up dead. Or they all end up as White Walkers following the Night King.

A dark ending to Game of Thrones would make more sense than a happy ending. If fans have learned anything in the last decade it is the show is dark and cruel. Thanks to the brilliant author himself George R.R. Martin for that. With the darkness of the show and how Game of Thrones has been throughout it all, it would be fit for the series to end on that note.

As a fan myself and watching from the beginning through all of it till now, I’ve always gone by two quotes. The first one was from the start and was at the beginning of this article. If you don’t win the Game of Thrones, you die and basically are out. The other quote is a prediction for the future and was said by Ramsey Bolton. The quote goes “If you think this story has a happy ending, you haven’t been paying attention.” The perfect fit to an almost perfect show.

Game of Thrones will end soon and it will be the end of an era. No matter what happens or how the show ends, there won’t be another t.v. series like this. All of the Seven Kingdoms will miss Game of Thrones.

Personal Prediction: The Night King Wins The Game of Thrones and sits on the Iron Throne.
