NHL: Top Five Candidates for the Hart Memorial Trophy

The last trophy that I am going to cover is the Hart Memorial Trophy. This, of course, is for the NHL MVP. Like the previous ones, this is another one that players want to win. Last year it went to Taylor Hall of the New Jersey Devils. The year has shaped up to where many players could be the finalist for the Hart Trophy. Here are my 5 players who might win the MVP.

5. Connor McDavid (Edmonton Oilers)

McDavid might be the best player in all the NHL. He uses his speed and has a great shot. He so far has played in 73 games. McDavid so far as 114 points. He has 40 goals and 74 assists. McDavid has been a talented player since being drafted. He always finds himself in the conversation for MVP.

4. Patrick Kane (Chicago Blackhawks)

Kane like McDavid uses speed and skills to be a talented player. He has tried to keep the Chicago Blackhawks in the playoff picture. He so far has played in 76 games. In those 76 games, he has totaled 104 points. Kane has 41 goals and 63 assists. Additionally, he has been killer on the power play with 30 power play points.

3. Blake Wheeler (Winnipeg Jets)

The Jets are heading into the playoffs and Wheeler is a big part of that. A big part of why he is in the conversation is how many power play points he has. Wheeler has 33 of them. He has played, so far, in 77 games. Wheeler has 89 points, with 20 goals and 69 assists. He is the dark horse for the NHL MVP.

2. Nathan MacKinnon (Colorado Avalanche)

McKinnon has had a solid season. The Avalanche have also had a good season and are heading the postseason. He so far has played 78 games. McKinnon, like the previous two, has had a ton of power play points. He currently has 36 points. McKinnon currently has 95-points, with 39 goals and 56 assists. Look for McKinnon to be in the conversation.

1. Nikita Kucherov (Tampa Bay Lightning)

This is hands down the favorite to win the MVP. The Lightning has been a talented team all season. Kucherov has been a huge part of the success. Kucherov so far has played in 77 games. In those games, he has amassed 121 points. He has 38 goals and 83 assists. Let see if he walks away with the hardware.
