NFL Free Agency: Best Fits For Three Players

The frenzy has begun in the NFL. The tampering period for the NFL’s Free Agency season has started. Multiple teams have been very active in negotiations and trying to fill their roster’s needs. Already all the top five overall free agents via ESPN’s top 100 have agreed to deals. Of course, many teams will remain active and others will stay put and build through the 2019 NFL Draft. Not all players will find new NFL homes through NFL Free Agency as well. Let’s take a look at three players that are free agents and some of the best fits for them as destinations for the 2019 NFL season.

Tyrod Taylor

He comes in at #13 on the ESPN top 100 free agents and NFL teams are always quarterback needy. NFL Free Agency is where a lot of teams look for their next second chance savior at the QB position. The Denver Broncos got Joe Flacco, Jacksonville Jaguars got Nick Foles, and Washington Redskins got Case Keenum already this free agency period. It’s already been reported that the Miami Dolphins are interested in Tyrod Taylor and they may be one of the best fits for him.

Teams: Miami Dolphins, Seattle Seahawks, and Carolina Panthers

My Pick: Miami Dolphins

Both the Seattle Seahawks and Carolina Panthers would look at Tyrod Taylor as a backup or an option for the future. He could fit well the same way Russell Wilson and Cam Newton fit in those offenses. The Miami Dolphins seem to be the best option and would work well with running back Kenyan Drake on offense. Tyrod Taylor would have a solid weapon at wide receiver as well in Devante Parker. This would be a solid grab for Miami in NFL Free Agency if they land him to start or be the backup and draft a rookie quarterback in the 2019 NFL Draft.

Earl Thomas

The former Seattle safety is ranked #8 overall on the ESPN top 100 free agents. Earl Thomas is a talented safety and multiple teams need secondary help. NFL Free Agency is a great place to look in 2019 for safeties and cornerbacks. The Dallas Cowboys have been rumored to get Earl Thomas for a decent amount of time, but they aren’t in these locations to land considered best fits.

Teams: Cleveland Browns, New York Giants, Los Angeles Chargers, and Oakland Raiders

My Pick: Oakland Raiders

The New York Giants lost Landon Collins safety to NFC East rival the Washington Redskins and need to fill the void. Earl Thomas would fit in great, but money may be the issue. Another problem is that there are no positives for the Giants right now. They have Eli Manning quarterback, Saquon Barkley star running back, and Sterling Shepard wide receiver on an offense that is it. The Giants traded away Odell Beckham Jr. wide receiver to Cleveland and lost Landon Collins safety to Washington.

For the Los Angeles Chargers, he would need to take less, but the talent is there with him on both sides of the ball. He would strengthen an already possible Super Bowl contender.

The Oakland Raiders would need to lure him with money and they would have to fill the other defensive holes in the NFL Draft. The addition of offensive weapon Antonio Brown is a good recruiting tool. They tried to add another, but it was announced running back Le’Veon Bell chose the New York Jets over Oakland and Baltimore. Will just Antonio Brown and rookie talent be enough to bring in Earl Thomas? Only time will tell.

The Cleveland Browns have Baker Mayfield quarterback, Kareem Hunt running back, Nick Chubb running back, Jarvis Landry wide receiver, David Njoku tight end, and Odell Beckham Jr. which is going to recruit star players. The Browns traded Safety, Jabrill Peppers, away, but if Earl Thomas chooses the Browns they fill that hole. Cleveland also has the money in this year’s NFL Free Agency to show Thomas to bring him in as well.

Ndamukong Suh

A key piece to the Los Angeles Rams defense, he helped lead them to Super Bowl 53. The Rams lost to the New England Patriots 13-3, but it was a stellar defensive battle. Ndamukong Suh would fit nicely with another west coast team and possibly anchor a new team’s defense as Super Bowl contenders. Here are some NFL Free Agency best fits for him to land.

Teams: Los Angeles Chargers and Oakland Raiders

My Pick: Los Angeles Chargers

The Oakland Raiders have the money and are trying to build with other free agents. Landing Antonio Brown wide receiver was great, but they are trying to land Earl Thomas safety as well and missed out on Le’Veon Bell running back. Landing top stars are key to recruiting Ndamukong Suh to Oakland. The one thing that the Raiders can’t offer is a ring soon enough. Not saying the Los Angeles Chargers Super Bowl bound, but they give Suh a shot.

The defense is stacked with Joey Bosa defensive end, Melvin Ingram defensive end, Denzel Perryman linebacker and Derwin James safety. The offense is loaded as well with Philip Rivers quarterback, Melvin Gordon running back, Austin Ekeler running back, Keenan Allen wide receiver, Mike Williams wide receiver, and Hunter Henry tight end. Finally, a good coach as well in Anthony Lynn. The Los Angeles Chargers could be great with the addition of Ndamukong Suh on the defense. In fact, the Chargers would grade well landing him in 2019’s NFL Free Agency.
