South Florida Bulls: Off Season Before Spring Game

The University of South Florida Bulls started off their 2018 season with a great start. They would win their first 7 games. Some of those wins were close games. It would take key plays or turnovers to help them win. The final six games, on the other hand, are where it went downhill. The Bulls were exposed and never won again. The fans wanted Charlie Strong gone. His reactions at the last press conference in a way threw his players under the bus. In fact, 11 of them and 4 coaches were dismissed before their bowl game.

The Bulls are not out for a fresh start. They fired their offensive coordinator. However, they would not take to long in hiring a former head coach in Kerwin Bell. Bell loves to spread the field. He will be dealing with a Blake Barnett who will be recovering from a shoulder injury. Barnett will have new backups as Brett Kean and Chris Oladokun have both transferred. The offense will hopefully be better in 2019.

Now, as with every year, the Bulls will have to fill positions of their seniors and dismissed players. On both sides of the ball, they lost key players. They have some key players coming back. Those include tight end Mitchell Wilcox and running back Jordan Cronkrite. Cronkrite will have has his running mate in Johnny Ford. They will also have back Terrence Horne after him tearing his ACL last year. The rest they will have to fill with recruiting.

The 2019 season will begin with a tough test. The Bulls will welcome the Wisconsin Badgers on a Friday. They will once again play the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in week 2. Last year that was one of the more exciting games. The Bulls will have their normal AAC teams of course ending with UCF Knights. The Knights have defeated the Bulls the last two season. Hopefully, the Bulls can have a better 2019 and get over the hump and defeat their in-state rivals the Knights.
