Florida Gators: Dan Mullen Brings Back a Familiar Face
David Turner is the Florida Gators newest coach for the defensive line replacing Sal Sunseri.
Coach Mullen has his coaching staff back to full strength after hiring USTA defensive line coach David Turner. He’s replacing Sal Sunseri. Sal will be a position coach on Nick Saban’s defensive staff coaching linebackers at Alabama.
David and Dan have coached together before in Starkville from 2007-2009 and again in 2010-2012, David has coached all over the SEC From Kentucky to Vandy and even a stop in Alabama.
David has coached first-round talent in Myles Garrett from Texas A&M, and Fletcher Cox from Mississippi State. The talent that comes through Gainesville should elevate him further. Florida has always valued defensive lineman, and this hiring needs to motivate the incoming players this upcoming season.
Florida Gators head coach Dan Mullen has released an official announcement. “We spent some time together at Mississippi State and he has produced many first-round picks in the NFL over this 30-plus years of coaching. Having spent 16 years in the SEC, he understands that this is a line of scrimmage league and our defensive line will continue to play fast, physical and aggressive under his leadership.”
David came in already familiar with Mullen’s coaching style. He will fit nicely into his role helping the #7 football program in the country. The defense was the backbone of this team under Dan “the Man” Mullen. This past year alone has done wonders for the Gators. David comes with experience coaching future first round picks.
Turner brings a strong pedigree coaching the defensive line along with knowledge of how Coach Mullen runs his system. David has done a great job bringing first round talent into the NFL, this will bring in more recruits for the 2020 class. The sky is looking bright up in Gainesville. Now we wait for the upcoming season to start.
