Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Welcoming Bruce Arians

After the results of the 2018 season, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers had to make a change at the head coaching position. The last two seasons under head coach Dirk Koetter they would finish 5-11. The current general manager, who survived another horrible season, Jason Licht set out to right the ship. He interviewed many candidates looking for the right one. He interviewed many candidates until it came to Bruce Arians. Licht knew Arians from the past and would offer him the job. Arians would take a few days to decide on the job and accepted it. Early Thursday afternoon Arians would be introduced to the fans and media members as the new head coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The one thing that Arians brings is winning. He had to leave the Arizona Cardinals because of health reasons. He worked as a football analyst last year. Like most coaches that leave the game, the itch is still there. Arians will bring exactly what the Tampa Bay Buccaneers need now. The Buccaneers have been in a losing culture for a long time. Arians said he doesn’t want to rebuild just rejuvenate. He feels that the pieces are in place for the Buccaneers to win now. He said during the press conference he will make every player go through an evaluation to see what the best 53 players for 2019 will be.

Bruce Arians is very familiar with quarterback Jameis Winston. They met when Winston was in middle school. He mentioned in his press conference when he was with the Cardinals, they didn’t have a quarterback in place. The Buccaneers have that in Winston. However, Winston is in the final year of his rookie contract. Arians might just be the coach to get him back on track.

In fact, he has put two good coaches in place to help Winston get to the next level. Those coaches are Clyde Christensen and former NFL quarterback Byron Leftwich. Christensen will be his quarterback’s coach and Leftwich will be his offensive coordinator. Bruce Arians believes these gentlemen will help Winston be the superstar that Arians knows he could be.

Arians also believes that the most important thing about a football team is a family. He stated, that when Chuck Pagano got sick, while in Indianapolis it was his chance. He took over as interim coach and the team had a goal to win for Pagano. Arians says the family starts at the top with ownership, general manager, coach, and quarterback. Nonetheless, he believes just like when he was with the Colts, the Buccaneers can to be successful. Arians is the right decision for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
