Seattle Seahawks: Three Keys Against the Dallas Cowboys
It’s playoff time and the Seattle Seahawks have made it to Wildcard Weekend. These 2 teams met in week 3 of the NFL season with the Seahawks taking the victory 24-17. Russell Wilson had a slash line of 16/192/2. Tyler Lockett and Chris Carson both had touchdowns in the contest. Both the Seahawks and Dallas Cowboys have grown since their last meeting, which should make this wildcard game fun to watch. Here are three keys to the Seahawks winning this game.
The Seattle Seahawks have been a rushing machine this season capturing the team rushing title. Chris Carson was a huge part of this, since returning from the broken leg at the beginning of the 2017 season. He put up great regular season numbers, rushing for 1151 yards on 247 attempts for an average of 4.7 yards a carry, he also scored 9 TDs. Carson is only one of two running backs to have broken the 100 yards threshold against the Cowboys this season. For the Seahawks to have success and maintain some control of the clock, not to mention keeping the ball out of Ezekiel Elliott‘s hands, they will need to be a run first team. Mike Davis and Rashaad Penny will also give the Seahawks the ability to throw different looks at the Cowboy defense keeping them off-balance.
Wilson has cut back on his rushing attempts this season, which has kept him healthier than previous seasons. This has also led to Wilson to run one of the most efficient passing games in the league this year. With Doug Baldwin being on the healthier side and Tyler Lockett coming into his own this season, the Seahawks have the ability to move the ball in various ways. David Moore will have the be the x-factor here and should go under the radar, adding to an already impressive second season. Wilson will be the general on the field that knows how to protect the ball and manage the clock. He will have to be all these things in order to ensure a Seattle Seahawks win in Dallas Saturday night.
This may be the biggest key in this game, in order for the Seattle Seahawks to get this win they will have to shut down Ezekiel Elliott. This will all start with Pro Bowl inside linebacker Bobby Wagner. Wagner has been one of the best in the game this season. He consistently makes tackles and shuts down the run game of his opposition. Wagner and the rest of the defensive front will have to be on their toes in order to keep Zeke in check and forcing Dak Prescott to beat them through the air.
