2018 Orange Bowl: The Good, Bad and Ugly

The second playoff game to decide who was playing for the National Championship was the Orange Bowl. It was better than the first game it was a lot closer. The Oklahoma Sooners fell behind early but showed they could come back. Alabama shows again they are the best in the nation. They watched the Sooners get close but were able to find a way to maintain the lead and win in the end. Unlike the previous game, these two teams looked like they belonged in the college football playoff. Here is the good, bad and ugly from the Orange Bowl.

The Good

The complete game for the Alabama Crimson Tide. The Tide jumped out to a 28-0 lead before Oklahoma found a way to get back into the game. The Tide is showing that there might not be a team out there that can beat them. The only team that can beat the Tide would be themselves. They will be playing the Clemson Tigers for the third year in a row. The Tide, as we know, are 2-1 against them. The two best teams in the country are playing for the National Championship just like it should be.

The Bad

I can really say it was all bad but the Oklahoma Sooners early in the game. When you put yourself in the hole by 28 points early against a team like the Crimson Tide it is nearly impossible to come back. Kyler Murray showed why he is the Heisman Trophy winner. The Sooners also showed why they belong in the playoff. If they had not fallen behind early, they might have a shot to pull off an upset. Hopefully, they get another shot next year for a playoff berth.

The Ugly

Nick Saban breaking his headset and yelling at players. When most of this occurred, his team was already up by 28 points. We all saw that Oklahoma could come back and win. The Sooners are a formidable team. We all know he is a passionate head coach. He didn’t need to break his headset. In college football, all coaches will yell at their players to scare them from not making the same mistakes twice. The headset thing was not right and uncalled for. Just this writer opinion!
