Denver Broncos: Three Keys to Beating the Cleveland Browns
The Denver Broncos enter Saturday night’s game against the Cleveland Browns knowing exactly what is at stake. A win and their playoff hopes still have life. A loss and the playoff hopes of the Browns still have life. Therefore, the game has major implications for both teams. What do the Broncos have to do in order to beat the Browns? Here are the three keys to their victory.
Contain Baker Mayfield
Mayfield is making his case for the Offensive Rookie of the Year. He has made the Browns a better football team since taking over the starting job for Tyrod Taylor. He is keeping Cleveland competitive, not only in the AFC North but in the AFC as well. Bradley Chubb and Von Miller will have to keep him in check for the Denver Broncos defense to be successful.
Bill Musgrave has to do a better job of putting the Denver Broncos offense in winning situations. He needs to adjust sooner. Last week against the San Francisco 49ers, he found his rhythm a little too late. Thus, putting his offense behind the eight ball. If the Broncos are to keep their playoff dreams alive, Musgrave must call a better game.
Keenum struggled early in the game last week against the 49ers. His numbers showed his struggles (224/42, 186 yards, 1 TD, 0 INT). With the run game being a lesser entity of itself, Keenum needed to be better. Defenses are going to key on the ground game. Therefore, Keenum and the air attack are going to have to be better.
In a season of ups and downs, the Denver Broncos are coming off one of their biggest downs. If they expect to make a legitimate run at the 2018 AFC Playoffs, they are going to have to have three of their biggest ups. If not, they will find themselves watching with the other 20 teams in the league.
