Florida Gators: The Good, Bad, and Ugly Against the Seminoles

The Florida Gators achieved their goal yesterday. They wanted to end the losing streak against the Seminoles. The Gators would also end the Seminoles bowl appearance streak. Being that this is the Sunshine Showdown which has been dominated by Seminoles the past 5 years. Dan Mullen said earlier in the week he would love to end the streak in which the Gators did. Here is the good, bad and ugly from the Florida State Seminoles game.

The Good:

The Florida Gators defense held the Seminoles to just 14 points. Now we all know that the Seminoles have had offensive problems all year. They have struggled with the offensive line. The Gators used the blitz and pressure to keep Deondre Francois on his toes. There was a key turnover early in the second half that put the game away for the Gators. They did give up some big plays but had plenty of stops to keep the game out of reach for the Seminoles.

The Bad:

The offense scored 41 points which are good by everybody. Early in the game they went into the red zone and came up empty. The Florida Gators did have a 37-point victory. It could have been more and if the Seminoles had a better offense it could have been a close game. The Gators offensively will have to make sure they score points in the red zone. In their next game, they will have to score points to a have another win.

The Ugly:

At the end of the game Gators and Seminoles, players fighting. Dan Mullen would leave his post game on the field interview to stop his players from starting trouble. One of the Gators players was trying to stick a Gators flag into the Seminoles logo in the middle of the field. Mullen would stop him. Seminoles head coach Willie Taggart would also assist in stopping his players from starting an altercation. These teams have bad blood between them, but it isn’t right for any team to start a fight after they win or lose.

The Florida Gators played a solid game against the Seminoles. They now certainly will have a New Years Day bowl game and finish in the top 10. The Seminoles will have their first losing season under Taggart. The streak is now in the favor of the Gators until they meet next year in Gainesville. The Gators are moving in the right direction. Let’s see how they do in their bowl game maybe against the UCF Knights.
