Royal Caribbean Does Vacation Right With Mariner Of The Seas
There’s so much to do on Mariner of the Seas. Royal Caribbean is known to have some pretty extravagant ships. This is no exception. No question, it was one of the best trips I’ve ever been on.
I’d say Mariner of the Sea’s was the best cruise I’ve ever set sail on, but it was my first cruise. What an experience to have this be my maiden voyage. You’ll be astounded by the number of things to do on the boat. There’s a rock wall, flow-rider, water slides, bungee sphere, mini golf, laser tag, an escape room, and basketball court. That’s just the stuff I didn’t have time to do.
You can imagine the size of this ship. Yes, it’s indeed quite massive.
In total, Mariner has 4 hot tubs and 3 pools. The pool deck also features 3 different bars. There are also cabanas and beds in the solarium (adult only pool deck). You can also check out live music at select times of the day. You’ll also find a rather large casino which features slots and table games. And surprisingly enough, the ship does feature sports betting.
The best activity on Mariner is the late night movies on the main pool deck. The cruise puts on numerous films for your enjoyment. I happened to watch the Meg, sitting in a lounge chair right by the pool, all doing so with a pineapple juice in my hand. It’s quite a relaxing experience. Each night of your cruise they’ll be at least 1 night-time film on the pool deck.
What would a cruise be without live shows? Mariner of the Seas puts on an assortment of entertaining productions for their guests. These included ice skating, comedy, stunts and comedy, magicians, and a theater show. The best of the bunch was Matt Baker, who brought his blend of stunts and comedy to Royal Caribbean.
I’d like to highlight the theater show, Gallery of Dreams. This wasn’t the best show I’ve ever seen. With that being said, the live singing and dancing, combined with rather well put together sets, made this quite enjoyable. Don’t expect much in terms of story, but for a nice 45-minute getaway, this really hits the spot after a long night of activities.
Food is another essential aspect of a good cruise. Mariner of the Seas has the usual buffet, but there’s so much more. In addition to the main dining room, there’s Chops Steakhouse, Izumi Hibachi and Sushi, Jamie’s Kitchen ( the three of which recommend reservations) Cafe Promenade, Scorekeepers, Johnny Rockets, an Irish Pub, and the Bamboo Room.
I’ll start by saying it’s impossible to visit every restaurant on the cruise. I opted to try Jamie’s Kitchen, a restaurant founded by celebrity chef, Jamie Oliver. Hands down, this was one of the best meals I’ve ever had. The pasta Carbonaro is just fantastic. In addition, the main dining room had some great meals as well. This included prime rib on the first night.
It does make sense to get some sort of drink package on this ship. Most cruises have their fair share of alcohol on board. Not counting the 3 main pool bars, there are at least 6 others on board, including one in the buffet. The soda package (Which I got, as I’m not a big alcohol consumer) lets you consume as much caffeine as you desire from the 4 Coca-Cola Freestyle machines
I’d give Mariner of the Seas a very high rating. Again, this was my first cruise so I don’t have much experience. The amount of activities on the ship is quite impressive. There’s always something to do at any time of the day. I joined a Cartoon Theme’s trivia at 7 pm one night, and there was also Harry Potter trivia. These are just the random type of things you’ll find on this cruise. It truly is an amazing time put together by Royal Caribbean.
