South Florida Bulls: Looking Ahead to the Temple Owls

The South Florida Bulls will have their last road game of the season. They travel to play the Temple Owls. The Bulls will also try to end their three-game losing streak. The Bulls must find a way to get back to how they won 7 games. Most of their wins came by way of fourth-quarter comebacks. Coach Charlie Strong continues to preach that his team is young. He also says they must find a way to not get off to a slow start and keep the penalties down. If they make these adjustments, they should be able to defeat the Owls.

The Bulls will have their hands full. The Owls are coming off a big win over the Houston Cougars. The Cougars were the first of three opponents to defeat the Bulls. The Bulls lost by 21 points to the Cougars. The Owls defeated the Cougars 59-49. The only lost the Owls have in the conference came just two weeks ago against the undefeated UCF Knights. The Owls beat USF, last opponent, the Cincinnati Bearcats 24-17. The Owls like so many teams will attack USF by running the ball. The Bulls have been unable to stop the run.

Last week the Bulls came close to a win. One of the aspects that cost them a win was penalties. The Bulls are one of the most penalized teams in all of college football. To get back on track they must find a way to be balanced on offense. During their seven-game winning streak, they were able to run and pass the ball. On defense, they were able to get stops on third down and get the offense back on the field. The struggles have been shown on defense and they must try and stop Temple.

The question is can Charlie Strong get the Bulls back to winning? Who starts at quarterback if Blake Barnett can’t go? The Bulls will have to stop Temple on third down to get them off the field. If they can do that they need to be balanced on offense. The Bulls showed last week that the quarterback position is okay. Chris Oladokun and Brett Kean both showed last week they can fill in. The Bulls need to get back to winning as they will host the UCF Knights next week for the last home game of the season.
