South Florida Bulls: USF Hits the Road to Face the Bearcats

The South Florida Bulls will try and figure out what has gone wrong in the last two weeks. They will head on the road to face the Cincinnati Bearcats. The Bearcats will be a team that the Bulls will have to be ready for. Even with the two losses the Bulls still have a chance to make to the AAC Championship game. Many of the players said after last week loss they must win out. They also said that they will be more focused in the final three games.

The Bulls have had too many slow starts. Those slow starts have been because they have hurt themselves with turnovers and penalties. Now unlike a year ago, this team is very young. Head coach Charlie Strong said he is not making excuses. He said that he has them not prepared. He said they will be ready for the final three games.

They will be getting back some key pieces this week. One is the tight end, Mitchell Wilcox. Wilcox has been one of Blake Barnett‘s favorite weapons. The offense has not been the same since him being injured. The South Florida Bulls will need him against the Bearcats. Cincinnati’s defense likes to shut down the run. They try and make their opponent one dimensional.

The South Florida Bulls will have to be better on defense as well. They had issues stopping the run. All of the teams that they have played run the ball right at them. Last week the Tulane Green Wave did just that. The Bulls were unable to stop them. Allowing nearly 400 yards on the ground. The Bearcats have a strong running game.

USF got a wake-up call in the last two games. It showed them that you can not live on the edge for too long. The Bulls have had far too many comebacks because of their early mistakes. Hopefully coach Strong has them ready for the Bearcats. They will have to come out and established the run with Jordan Cronkrite and Johnny Ford. This will help Blake Barnett stay away from mistakes. The defense will also have to ready to get the Bearcats if they hope to get back on track.
