South Florida Bulls: A Road Game Looms With the Houston Cougars

The USF Bulls come off homecoming week with a win over the UConn Huskies. The South Florida Bulls are undefeated but at times they have struggled. The biggest problem they have is they get behind early. Most of the game they have trailed and must come from behind. They had a surprise for them and the fans from this week. For the first time in school history, they wore all black both uniforms and helmets. Now they turn their attention to currently their toughest opponent, the Houston Cougars.

The Cougars only have one loss to the Texas Tech Red Raiders. Under head coach Major Applewhite, they have been in thick of things in the AAC. They have been great on defense. One of the major players is Ed Oliver. Oliver though has missed practice the last three days. His status according to Applewhite is questionable. If he can’t play they will rotate that position.

The South Florida Bulls, according to head coach Charlie Strong, need to stay focused. He has said multiple times in his pre and post-game press conferences his team hasn’t played a complete game. Many of the fans say they play down to their opponent. Last week, they should have blown out UConn. Instead, the game was close because the Bulls hurt themselves with penalties and turnovers. They can not have those mistakes this week and for the rest of the season.

With Oliver, a question of whether he is or isn’t playing may help the South Florida Bulls. The Cougars will be ready since they beat the Bulls a year ago. Unless USF stays away from shooting themselves in the foot they will suffer their first loss. The Bulls have three games where the opponent will give them a fit. This one against the Cougars, the Cincinnati Bearcats, and of course the season finale against the UCF Knights. Both teams will be ready let’s see who comes out on top at 3:30.
