Tampa Bay Buccaneers: 3 Things To Watch in Week 7

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers come into week 7 with three straight losses. They also already gone through their bye week. In the first two games, they looked like they were unstoppable. Unfortunately, they have come back down to earth. The big problem has been the defense. The Buccaneers as a franchise finally made a change. Here are three things to watch as they play the Cleveland Browns.

1. Mark Duffner

Earlier this week the Tampa Bay Buccaneers fired defensive coordinator Mike Smith. Smith’s defense was no better than 21st in the league under his tenure. It looked like the Bucs were overmatched in all the games this season. They won the first two games of the season, but the offense looked great in those games. At this moment they are second to last in the NFL when it comes to defense.

Duffner will have to find a way to make some changes most fans want to see more blitzing. With Baker Mayfield, the rookie quarterback for the Cleveland Browns, it would make it interesting if he sees the blitz.

2. The timing of WRs with Jameis Winston

Winston started the season with a 3-game suspension. He didn’t see action until week 4 in the second half. When Winston finally came into the game, the Bucs were being blown out by the Chicago Bears. He was following quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick who looked good in the first three games in which the Tampa Bay Buccaneers went 2-1. Timing is critical with a quarterback and his wideouts. He has so many weapons at his disposal. They looked like it was getting better last week. This will need to improve if the Bucs are going to get back on track.

3. The game means more to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The Bucs have lost three in a row after winning the first 2. This is a must win for them. The defense will have a fresh voice. Maybe this is what they need. The offense has been good all year. They are passing 40 to 45 times a game. The running game looked good last week and is trying to help either Jameis Winston or Ryan Fitzpatrick.

The Cleveland Browns have a good defense. Good enough that they are tied with Chicago Bears in turnovers with 16. Baker Mayfield has shown why he was good enough to be the 1st overall pick in last year draft. We will have to see what Mark Duffner will do like the defensive play caller. The timing between Winston and his wide receivers will have to improve. This game means more to Bucs at this moment. Browns fans can offer Bucs fans so advice it took them 635 days to get their first win, so they tell them just be patient things can’t get any worse.
