Cincinnati Bengals: Three Keys to a Win Over the Miami Dolphins
The Cincinnati Bengals enter Sunday’s home game with the Miami Dolphins 3-1. Cincinnati won a shootout over Atlanta last week, scoring in the game’s waning seconds.
Miami suffered its first defeat of the season, getting thumped by New England.
Can the Bengals continue the momentum?
THREE KEYS TO A WIN
RETURN OF TEZ
The Cincinnati Bengals get their defensive leader back this week after a four-game suspension. Vontaze Burfict returns at the perfect time. The last two games have easily been the teams two worst defensive performances. I am not saying that Burfict is the cure for all of the defense’s ills. However, his aggressiveness and energy will feed the other ten players.
GENO WILL EAT
Miami will be without starting center Daniel Kilgore who went on IR this week. He is the second Dolphins center to go onto injured reserve. Enter Geno Atkins. Atkins, one of the top players at his position in the NFL, should feast on this matchup. I expect Andrew Billings to excel as well.
Also look out for rookie edge rusher Sam Hubbard to have success rushing from the interior in passing situations.
WHICH TIGHT END WILL STEP UP
Just when it seemed Tyler Eifert was getting back in the groove, he gets taken out in a freak play. But the old saying goes, “next man up.” That is the attitude the Cincinnati Bengals will have to take. But who will that next man be?
Will it be Tyler Kroft? Kroft looked solid in 2017 while replacing Eifert?
Will it be C.J. Uzomah? Uzomah may offer the most upside.
Mason Schreck should also be active this week. It is unfortunate. The offense is much more efficient with Tyler Eifert in it. Offensive coordinator Bill Lazor is just going to have to get crafty. I also look for the Bengals to use a high draft pick on a TE in 2019.
