Marvel Strike Force: How Did I Become Addicted to a Mobile Game
How did it happen? How did I become addicted to a mobile game? This had never happened before. Hell, I don’t even own a gaming console. But here I am, firing up Marvel Strike Force on a daily basis.
Per Wikipedia: Marvel Strike Force is a turn-based role-playing mobile game by FoxNext for Android and iOS platforms. The game was launched worldwide on March 28, 2018.
WHEN DID I START PLAYING?
I started playing the game in late May of this year, and I have been hooked ever since.
Perhaps it is my love for the films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe that got me hooked. I have seen the majority of those films in the theater and own everyone on Blu-Ray. Perhaps it was my love for the Marvel shows on Netflix. I do not have the answer.
HOW DID I KNOW I WAS ADDICTED?
I believe the AH HA moment for me was when I started firing up the game every morning before I even checked Twitter. I became a Twitter junkie years ago. It is the only place I get my breaking news. 95% sports news but news nonetheless.
I started obsessively watching YouTube videos to learn how to make my team better in the game. In determining that Captain America was the best “Tank” in the game, I became entrenched in unlocking him. This is of course after I figured out what a “Tank” was.
I began checking my phone for the time religiously because I knew at Noon, 6 pm, and 9 pm, I would get free energy refills. I would get upset with myself if I didn’t refill my free energy before the two-hour expiration.
Researching different “Alliances” to join so I could maximize my chances of upgrading characters. Investigating what characters worked well with other characters. Hell, I still haven’t figured all of that out.
WHAT DO I THINK OF MARVEL STRIKE FORCE?
Marvel Strike Game is a hellaciously fun game to play. This is especially true if you are a Marvel fan. Per my milestone incentives, I have logged in to play 140 consecutive days. And I somehow still haven’t unlocked Iron Man.
