College Football: Who is on Upset Alert in Week Five?
Every week going forward in the college football season, I will provide three teams that should be on Upset Alert going into their game.
Last week, my upsets were 2-1 against the spread, 1-2 straight up. I successfully predicted a UNLV cover against Arkansas State and a Kentucky win over Mississippi State. Northern Illinois screwed the pooch for us.
So who is on high alert this week? Let’s find out!
COLLEGE FOOTBALL WEEK FIVE UPSET ALERT
PURDUE (-3) at Nebraska
After a 0-3 start, Purdue annihilated Boston College on Saturday. Nebraska has started 0-3 in Scott Frost’s return to Lincoln. Their first two losses were close until the destruction in Ann Arbor last weekend.
True freshman QB Adrian Martinez took a beating against the Wolverines. However, his return gives me hope that the Cornhuskers can knock off Purdue this week.
Iowa State at TCU (-10.5)
TCU took it on the chin against Texas. The Horned Frogs were outgunned by the Longhorns. Enter Iowa State this week. Head coach Matt Campbell brings his Cyclones into Fort Worth. ISU RB David Montgomery and WR Hakeem Butler are matchup problems for anyone.
TCU will likely win the game, however, I think the Cyclones cover with a close loss.
Florida at MISSISSIPPI STATE (-8)
The Mississippi State hype train de-railed after their thorough trouncing at the hands of Kentucky. Now enter former head coach Dan Mullen returning to Stark-Vegas.
Give me the Gators outright.
