Atlanta Falcons: Signing Dez Bryant would pay huge dividends now and later
Here are a few things that could happen if Dez signs with Atlanta:
2) If the Falcons decide not to bring back Jones then for the short-term Atlanta would have Bryant and Ridley.
3) Jones elects to stay in “Hotlanta” long-term. Maybe the surprise signing of Bryant would make Jones want to sign a long-term deal at a faster rate. The last thing any player wants to think is, “Oh I guess I’m not needed here anymore.”
The Falcons would be in win-now mode, but signing Bryant to a short-term deal would allow them to spend time and money on other positions.
Bryant would add a fiery personality to a Falcons sideline which sometimes seems emotionless.
Matt Ryan is already 33 years old and he needs all the help he can get, especially since the NFC is getting better.
If Dez Bryant plays well and Atlanta is able to scout another receiver to join Ridley for the future, then they can let Jones leave or trade him.
The Falcons can live without Julio. The question is are they going to be able to make the right adjustments from a roster and game plan standpoint.
Dez Bryant caught 69 passes for 838 yards and six touchdowns last season.
For his career the eight-year pro has 73 touchdowns and 7,459 yards receiving.
Even though Atlanta doesn’t need him, it would make sense especially since Jones has dealt with injuries over his career.
The Atlanta Falcons are a good team on paper, but adding Dez Bryant might give them a jolt of opportunities they probably haven’t thought of before.
