Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Three Bold Predictions in 2018
The 2017 season for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers was not a good one. They finished the season at 5-11. Many of the experts had them winning 10 or 11 games and being a playoff team. The Bucs were even featured on Hard Knocks where HBO airs a teams offseason and preseason. It looked promising during their time on Hard Knocks but that was not the result. Here are three bold predictions for the 2018 season.
1. Jameis Winston will be suspended for Uber incident
Jameis Winston had an off the field issue that could have him suspended four games to start the 2018 season. He may or may not have sexually assaulted a female Uber driver. He has said nothing happened that there were two other players in the car and one of the other players assaulted the female driver. One of Winston ex-teammates and close friends said that what Winston said was the truth. The NFL has been investigating this and has rather been quiet they changed their policy on sexual assault after Ray Rice assaulted his wife in an elevator.
2. Tampa Bay Buccaneers will have a top NFL defense
After the Bucs had a terrible 2017 season on defense where they finished almost dead last in the NFL. So, they went out and picked up some key and free agents and used their first-round pick in the draft to help them get better. They got free agents Vinny Curry from the world champion Philadelphia Eagles and they got Jason Pierre-Paul from the New York Giants to help veteran pro bowler Gerald McCoy. Also, they picked Vita Vea from the University of Washington in the first round. His size will help make the middle of the line better. With these four up front, it will allow the secondary to stay with their guys a little longer and allow for more sacks. The Bucs will be one of my top defenses in the NFL my second bold prediction.
3. Dirk Koetter and Jason Licht get fired
Both of these gentlemen got a second chance after last year. They made improvements on both sides of the ball with the draft and free agents so the pressure is all on them. The other two Tampa Bay franchises have won or had many more winning seasons than the Bucs. The Bucs as a franchise should be feeling the pressure of wanting to be a winner again. If the Bucs do not have a better 2018 season it comes to be time for these two to take a walk.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have many questions to answer going into the 2018 season. It will start with what happens to QB Jameis Winston. If the league does suspend Winston, it will be a tough start to the season. If they have to go to backup quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick it may be a little harder to have a better record in 2018. They have a very tough schedule with or without Winston. They will have a better 2018 season on defense they helped out that cause a lot. The pressure is on the coaching staff and management to have a better season. If not ownership will be cleaning house.
