Nickelodeon Universe: Spongebob Rock Bottom Plunge Is A Terrific Time For The Coaster Enthusiast

Spongebob Squarepants Rock Bottom Plunge isn’t the fastest coaster, nor is it the most intense. Still, this coaster is a lot to write home about. Situated in a corner of Nickelodeon Universe at the Mall of America, this is the best coaster at the park. What makes Rock Bottom Plunge such a great ride?

There might not be a ton of elements on Rock Bottom Plunge, but you don’t realize it as you’re flying through the track. Honestly, for some little ones, this might be a tad too intense. The typical coaster enthusiast won’t find this too aggressive. Although, like most Gerstlaurer’s this is going to be really rough.

In typical Euro-Fighter fashion, you’re sent up the lift facing upwards. Seeing as you’re indoors, the feeling isn’t as intense. Once you hit the top of the coaster, you’ll feel as if you can touch the roof of The Mall of America. I wouldn’t recommend that, but still a nice touch by MOA to get you that close to the top.

The loop on Rock Bottom Plunge isn’t too crazy. Seeing as the coaster only hits 74 feet, it’s not too tall either. As mentioned before the coaster is not too aggressive. The heartline roll might disorient you a bit, but not to the point of it being too out of it.

I’m a sucker for grand entrance signs. Rock Bottom Plunge is the jewel of Nickelodeon Universe. The front of the coaster features a giant Spongebob and Patrick going down a coaster car. It’s one of the most elaborate signs I’ve seen on any coaster. You really feel like you’re stepping on an amazing ride.

Fans of Spongebob Squarepants don’t need to ride this coaster. There’s not enough themeing aside from the main entrance sign to lure the non-coaster fan onto this ride. If you are a thrill junkie and enthusiast, this is the coaster for you. Euro-Fighters are a very popular model of coasters.

When it’s all said and done, I enjoyed Rock Bottom Plunge at Nickelodeon Universe in Mall of America. I’m not saying it’s the best coaster I’ve done. As far as Euro-Fighters go it’s ahead of Mystery Mine at Dollywood for me. It’s cool to have a ride themed to Spongebob, just know it’s not the smoothest of coasters. Otherwise, you won’t regret it.
