Cleveland Browns Draft Talk: Any of these five are possible at one

For the second year in a row, the Cleveland Browns hold the keys to the brand new car. They will be making the opening selection in 2018 NFL Draft. Many, so-called, experts have the Browns selecting one of the top QBs in this draft. While I think taking a QB is wise, they may not need to spend the number one overall pick on a QB. Nonetheless, we have to place them as targets for the Cleveland Browns top five. Saying that here are five possible targets for the Browns at number one. (Names are not in any particular order)

  1. Sam Darnold, QB – USC

Darnold brings all the intangibles of a young NFL QB. However, he does have a tendency to turn the ball over. While turnovers are fixable, the Browns are not the kind of team that can overcome them. At least, not at this point. This is why the Browns traded for Tyrod Taylor. Darnold is a starter; however, you already have one in Taylor.

  1. Josh Allen, QB – Wyoming

Allen makes sense for the Cleveland Browns at number one. Especially if they want to go QB. Allen is a strong-armed big QB. He can make all the throws that an NFL QB needs to make. Although, at this point, he may need some coaching on his footwork. Having him sit behind Taylor and working on this could be ideal.

  1. Bradley Chubb, DE/Edge – NC State

Can you imagine a pass rush with Chubb and Myles Garrett? This would give the Browns some maneuverability with their defensive line. Meanwhile, many say Chubb may be better suited for a 3-4 style defense. If the Browns feel that way too then they would want to make a pass on the talented edge player.

  1. Baker Mayfield, QB – Oklahoma

Mayfield feels that he could be the missing piece to the Cleveland Browns. Mayfield would definitely bring the spunk that the Browns need. Much along the lines of Johnny Manziel, however, more controlled. Do not be fooled by Mayfield’s size. He will be just fine.

  1. Saquon Barkley, RB – Penn State

Barkley is the top rated talent in the 2018 NFL Draft. He is an all-around 3-down back. Indeed, he has excellent speed, vision, and patience. Thus, he compares a lot to Le’Veon Bell when it comes to his patients and finding the hole. Hence, no matter who selects this individual, they will be getting an immediate day one starter. Ideally, teaming him with Tyrod Taylor, Jarvis Landry, Josh Gordon, David Njoku, and Duke Johnson would make the offense of the Cleveland Browns pretty prolific.

The Cleveland Browns have a chance in this draft to solidify their roster for many years to come. Smart drafting and we will be seeing this team back in the playoffs within one to two years.
