Deadpool 2: Gambit Needs To Make A Cameo In The Film
With Deadpool 2 set to premiere this summer, speculation about who will appear in the film has been at an all-time high. There’s going to be a surprise cameo at some point in the film. If you’re a betting man, put your money on Channing Tatum as Gambit.
Gambit is a huge part of the X-Men Universe. He’s one of the most popular characters of all the mutants. There hasn’t been a lot of Gambit in any X-Men films. He appeared in the first Wolverine spin-off film. This new version of Gambit, played by Tatum, is the one fans have been waiting for.
Deadpool 2 should unveil Gambit. While he’s not associated with X-Force (The primary group Deadpool establishes in the sequel), he’s got a lot of history with the X-Men universe. It doesn’t have to be a long cameo, perhaps just something to wet the appetite of fans. The Gambit film should arrive sometime in 2019.
So how do you put Gambit into Deadpool 2? Knowing Deadpool and its ability to break the fourth wall, fully expect Tatum to make an appearance as himself. After some convincing by Wade Wilson (Deadpool), we are introduced to him as Gambit. This is only one suggestion. While it’s very vague, expect it to be some sort of comedic moment.
I’d go out on a limb and predict the interaction with Deadpool and Gambit will include references to X-Men Origins. In the film, Ryan Reynolds also played Deadpool. Gambit was played by Taylor Kitsch. Neither performance was memorable. There’s a chance this will be the punchline with the interaction of the two.
Don’t count out appearances from anyone in the FOX Marvel Universe. In fact, we could see Famke Janssen as Jean Grey, or even Hugh Jackman coming back for one more go at Wolverine. Additionally, that’s the beauty of Deadpool. Seeing as it breaks the fourth wall, just about any cameo is possible.
Getting back on track, Gambit is one who makes a lot of sense in Deadpool 2. His inclusion into the film could serve as a backdoor origins story. It’s very much like what the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Disney did with Black Panther on Civil War. Considering the amount of money Deadpool will make, this could really help with Gambit’s intake at the box
As mentioned before, Gambit does have a release date for later this fall or 2019. Seeing as the movie is being finalized, it would make a lot of sense for FOX to want to try to promote him as much as they can. Thus, they’ve got a lot invested in Tatum and Gambit. And while Jean Grey has her own thing coming, Gambit is the true tentpole film for FOX.
Of course, Gambit won’t be the focal point of Deadpool 2. Indeed, Ryan Reynolds is the star of this film. Still, having Tatum there for a brief few minutes would really be a nice way to introduce his character to the average comic book film fan. Whether he serves his purpose as a cameo or something a little more, Gambit is the one we want to see in Deadpool 2.[DanielTwitter]
