Oliver Hudson: Why is the Splitting up Together star receiving flak from The Office Fans?
Over the past few days, Twitter has been in an uproar over Oliver Hudson & Jenna Fischer. Mostly, upset fans of the hit television show that is no longer airing “The Office”. Fans like myself fell in love with Jim Halpert and Pam Beely’s love-hate relationship. I must admit seeing Beely and Hudson on-screen makes me tear up.
The Office aired from 2005-2013 on the NBC network it was the shows two-year anniversary on March 25, 2018. Hudson who you may know from the movie Walk of Shame (2014), also he had a recurring role in as Eddie Dooling in Dawson’s Creek. Earlier this week Oliver Hudson told the Huffington Post he has received so much flak from fans on social media. He stated in an interview “I have gotten so much crap on social media just about getting a job.” Also went on to add ” I guess this job working with her comes with just getting hammered over the head.” Being a die-hard fan it is hard seeing Fischer not gripping with Halpert, but instead with Hudson. Although it’s been 5 years it still feels like we are apart of the Dunder Mifflin family.
You can catch Jenna Fischer and Oliver Hudson, as they play the separated married couple on Tuesdays at 9:30 pm on ABC. Ratings-wise there is a mixture of “I love it” and “I wouldn’t watch this if it was the only thing on”. So you can say it’s complicated. If you want to know my personal opinion I feel the show would be better on Netflix. The stars of the show are attractive, yes, but the chemistry is not there. Kristen Baldwin of the Entertainment Weekly gave the comedy a grade of C+ guess you can get the gist of it. In hindsight, the avid fan like myself feels like they canceled “The Office” and now Jim and Pam are no more.
John Krasinski and the cast felt like they were walking on eggshells with the network. Krasinski played Jim Halpert the constant caper and of course Fischer’s love interest. In an interview with US Magazine back in 2012 Krasinski said: “We were constantly in fear of getting
canceled.” Nowadays each former Dunder Mifflin employee has gone their own separate ways. Krasinski has done minimal work voice filming in this year’s picture “A Quiet Place.” Actor Rainn Wilson known as “Dwight Schrute” from his stint with the show has been pretty busy. Since the show ended in 2013, Wilson has been apart of over 20 projects. Steve Carell the most accomplished of “The Office” cast has been in quite a few blockbuster films.
Although each is going their own way in the industry, nothing compares to Scranton, PA. I forgot to also toss in Mindy Kaling whose character was Kelly Kapoor the dry-humored loner. She produced her own sitcom entitled “The Mindy Project” which aired for 5 seasons (2012-2017) on FOX. Kaling was also selected to be in the new film “Ocean’s 8″ alongside R&B star Rihanna & Academy award winner Sandra Bullock! The movie expects to have a June release date.
In a nutshell, the fans will truly miss this sitcom. How could you forget all the uncanny office moments? From Ryan almost completely burning down The Office and Dwight finally finding out. All the way up to the anticipated wedding of Jim & Pam. In the words of Michael Scott “Society teaches us that having feelings and crying is bad and wrong. Well, that’s baloney, because grief isn’t wrong. There’s such a thing as good grief. Just ask Charlie Brown.”
