Dallas Cowboys TE Jason WItten

Dallas Cowboys Rumors: Is Jason Witten thinking of the Broadcast Booth?

Are the Dallas Cowboys as well off as they seem? There is certainly no shortage of news related to the Cowboys these days. Whether we are talking about Dez Bryant and his contract, Ezekiel Elliott’s off-field issues, and Jerry Jones paying back the league. The next thing that Cowboys fans may be talking about is the loss of their TE. Furthermore, Jason Witten has considered hanging up the cleats and his next gig may just be around the corner. How does Fox Sports sound, Jason?

It is being reported that Fox is recruiting Jason Witten for their Thursday Night Football broadcast. Late last year, there were also reports that Witten would hang up his cleats immediately if the University of Tennessee would hire him as head coach. Indeed, Witten is a graduate of the university.

Jason Witten has had a solid career with the Dallas Cowboys. He currently has 1,152 receptions for 12.448 yards and 68 TDs. The 35-year-old TE has certainly done enough in his career to warrant being done. Aside from not playing in a Super Bowl, Witten has had a Hall of Fame Caliber career.

Take a look at his career highlights:

11 Time Pro Bowl Selection (’04-’10, ’12-’14, ’17)

2 Time First-Team All-Pro (’07, ’10)

2 Time Second-Team All-Pro (’08-’12)

Walter Payton Man of The Year (2012)

Fox has pursued Jason Witten along with Peyton Manning. Thus, they are looking to add a name to their TNF telecast. However, it may take a lot for the TE to hang up the cleats. Nonetheless, he has already said that he will be playing 2018. Although that remains to be seen.

The Dallas Cowboys leader in both receptions and yards will not be the only former Cowboy in the booth. In fact, he would join both Tony Romo and Troy Aikman as Cowboys that have turned in their cleats for microphones.

So, how do you feel about Dallas Cowboys TE Jason Witten possibly hanging up the cleats? Leave a comment below.
