Cleveland Browns: Saquon Barkley is a No-Brainer with No. 1 Pick

For the Cleveland Browns, the 2018 NFL Draft will be crucial to the continued improvement of this franchise. They have already taken positive steps in the right direction. Completing trades for QB Tyrod Taylor, Jarvis Landry, and Damarious Randall are all upward movers. However, one move could put them back on the map in 2018. They need to select Penn State RB Saquon Barkley with the number one overall pick. Doing this is simply the best move.

The Browns hold the number one and four spots in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft. Judging by all the recent trades, they are not taking this season lightly. GM John Dorsey and HC Hue Jackson are looking to make an immediate impact on the 2018 season. Why not? The Cleveland Browns have been in the cellar for so long. It is time to give their fans something to cheer for.

Selecting a player like Saquon Barkley gives the Browns offense a complete back. Not to mention he is also the best player available in the draft. Also, probably the only worth going number one overall. Many may ask about a QB at this position. While Josh Rosen or Sam Darnold may be eye-catching, I still believe the Cleveland Browns will fill this through free agency. Making it a no-brainer for Barkley at number one.

Barkley burst onto the scene in sophomore season of 2016. He had a remarkable 1,496 yards to go along with 18 TDs. In fact, his outstanding season earned him Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year. Additionally, he completed his terrific season with a 204-yard performance in the Rose Bowl against USC. Furthermore, his performance at the 2018 NFL Scouting Combine only added to his rising stock.

Thus, if the Cleveland Browns truly are looking to be a better franchise in 2018, they will make this move in April. There will not be a QB selected with the number one overall pick. Unless, for some reason, the Browns trade down.
