Six Flags Great America: What Are The Parks Top-5 Coasters?

Six Flags Great America is home to a collection of amazing roller coasters. With so many to choose from picking favorites isn’t an easy task. Somehow I’ve managed to narrow my list to five.

Without further ado, here are my top-five coasters at Six Flags Great America.

5. Raging Bull

The tallest and fastest coaster at Great America, Raging Bull is a damn good hyper-coaster, however, it’s not the best hyper-coaster. Personally, I feel you get more airtime on Magnum XL-200 than Raging Bull. It’s got some great elements, especially a nice helix. Although, compared to a coaster such as Behemoth at Canada’s Wonderland, it’s not in the same league.

4. Batman
It’s the first B&M invert that I’ve done outside of Raptor at Cedar Point. I felt like Batman is a little more forceful than Raptor. In fact, I believe I even grayed out on the ride. The back row is definitely the best seat on the ride. I’m still going to give Raptor the slight edge on B&M inverts. But at Six Flags Great America, Batman is still a can’t miss ride.

3. Viper
I’m not a huge wooden coaster guy. I didn’t have the highest of hopes for Viper going into the ride. However, the amount of airtime and force you get from this ride is greater than any wooden coaster I’ve ridden. It’s truly the hidden gem of Six Flags Great America.

2. Joker 4D
I’m not a fan of Six Flags clone rides such as Joker 4D. Although, I’m going to make an exception for this. Joker is one of the most intense rides I’ve done. Almost like a flat ride, this is a seriously intense coaster. You flip in so many different directions, it’s hard to fathom what exactly is going on around you. It’s an amazing coaster, and is a must ride at any Six Flags park.

1. Goliath
Yup, the signature ride of Six Flags Great America is number one. Surprisingly, this was my first RMC. And the hype is totally worth it. When it comes to the first drop, this is on par with Maverick as my favorite of all-time. The inversions are some of the best I’ve ever experienced on a coaster. My only complaint is the length of this ride. Although, the ride time you do get is simply amazing.
