Arizona Cardinals: Is LeGarrette Blount to become a member of the Cardinals?
GLENDALE, Ariz. (Feb. 26, 2018)- Could LeGarrette Blount become a member of the Arizona Cardinals?
This morning he posted the following tweet
AZ here I come! 🙏🏿🙌🏿😍
— LeGarrette Blount (@LG_Blount) February 25, 2018
With the Philadelphia Eagles four million dollars over the cap, this tweet raises some questions. Could he be signing with the Cardinals? Who actually is in need of a second running back after cutting Adrian Peterson? No one can say for sure, but here are the facts.
- LeGarrette Blount is a free agent – In May of 2017, the long-time New England Patriot signed a one year deal with the Philadelphia Eagles which ends on March 14 of this year.
- Blount does have Arizona ties – He mentioned he does have a house here in Arizona already in an interview with the Eagles public relations team.
- The Arizona Cardinals need a quarterback – Obviously, he doesn’t play quarterback. Nonetheless, his presence could be extremely useful in enticing different free agent veterans into coming to Arizona. The opportunities also include the chance to play with the living legend Larry Fitzgerald and one of the best up-incoming running backs in David Johnson. If they end up adding two-time super bowl champion LeGarrette Blount to that list? Forget about it.
It would behoove Cardinals GM, Steve Keim to give this some consideration. Especially give the David Johnson injury questions. Thus, having a reserve like Blount only adds quality depth. Just ask the Eagles. In fact, their one-two punch was a legitimate reason for Super Bowl success.
This is clear speculation at this point. However, it is intriguing how a free agent who already has a home here, with no outward MLB allegiances, and fulfills the need of a local team, would randomly tweet out of the blue about coming to the state. Makes you wonder.
