DOug Martin Landing Spots

Doug Martin: Five Landing Spots for the released RB

On Tuesday, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers told long-time RB Doug Martin that they would be releasing him from his contract with the team. Thus making him a free agent and free to sign with whomever he sees fit. He should be one of the higher sought after free agent RBs on the board. He still produces at a high level and will be an added value to whatever team he signs with. Here are five targets for the services of Doug Martin.

  1. Miami Dolphins

This would keep Doug Martin in the state. Thus not having to uproot his family too far. However, the Dolphins are fairly high on Kenyan Drake. Although adding a veteran RB could make this offense very prolific.

  1. New York Giants

The Giants have had a non-existent running game for a couple of years. They added Wayne Gallman in the 2017 draft, however, he never caught on. Although their offense had more struggles than just the running game. Adding a player like Doug Martin could help solidify the offense and bring renewed hope.

  1. Washington Redskins

The Redskins have had their running game issues since the hiring of Jay Gruden. There really has never been a true lead back in Washington. Adding a veteran like Martin could finally restore hope. It would also allow Gruden to keep Chris Thompson strictly in passing situations.

  1. San Francisco 49ers

Adding a player with the abilities of Doug Martin only makes the team rise higher. The 49ers are already looked upon as the cream rising to the top. Nevertheless, if GM John Lynch were to add a RB such as Martin this team and offense quickly rise to one of the best in the NFC.

  1. Denver Broncos

There are some questions in the Broncos running game. In fact, they have to make a decision on whether they will keep incumbent RB, CJ Anderson. If they do not this could be an ideal landing spot for Doug Martin. Additionally, there has to be some caution here. Furthermore, if the Broncos are to be the heavy hitters for QB Kirk Cousins, there may not be any money left in the bank to sign Martin.

Like I said in the open, Doug Martin should be one of the higher targeted players in the coming weeks. If the timing is right, he should not be out of work very long.
