Denver Broncos: Five Potential Quarterback Targets
For the Denver Broncos, 2017 wants to become a distant memory. One way to do that is to play better in 2018. However, they will need to improve in some areas to make sure that they do that. The main area indeed may be at QB. Since the end of the season, the Broncos rumors include going after several different QBs. Also, news came out today that the Broncos were shopping Trevor Siemian.
As Combine conversations loom, one QB who will be discussed is Trevor Siemian. The #Broncos QB is expected to be available via trade, as the team will address the QB position aggressively in FA & the draft. Could be Paxton Lynch, then 2 other new QBs in Denver.

Meaning they could have something in the works. Here we put the top five QBs that would be an ideal fit for the Broncos in 2018 and beyond.
- Baker Mayfield
The Denver Broncos would be spending the number five overall pick on the young man out of the University of Oklahoma. I have Mayfield currently rated as the third best QB in the draft. I believe that he could be a starter from day one. Nonetheless, I think GM John Elway is leery of going with youth over experience. Especially seeing how the last two years have gone.
- Tyrod Taylor
Taylor is an interesting player. He has all the intangibles to be a starting NFL QB. He has not had a very solid array of weapons in his career. Maybe the change of scenery would do him some good. He would come cheaper than some others, the Broncos have weapons, and Taylor is veteran. This could be a new lease on his career.[SeanNaylor2Ads]
- Case Keenum
Keenum had a career year for the Minnesota Vikings in 2017. He led them to the NFC Championship Game. Keenum is a six-year veteran of the game. Again, he carries that veteran factor that Elway likes. Meanwhile, Keenum will be coming in hot. While he may not demand as much as some QBs, he will be looking for a solid payday.
McCarron is a newer free agent to the class of 2018. He joins the class after winning a grievance that he filed with the NFLPA. I could see McCarron in Vance Joseph’s offense. He is a young veteran with all the tools. In fact, McCarron could actually become the next Jimmy Garropolo. In terms of a backup becoming a franchise QB.
- Kirk Cousins
The Denver Broncos have made no secret about being big players in the Cousins sweepstakes. In order to be that player, however, they are going to have to make some big salary cap moves. Players like Aquib Talib, Derek Wolfe, and others could become casualties. Nonetheless, if Elway wants Cousins he will make it happen. Cousins makes the Denver Broncos immediate division contenders again. Especially given the weapons and defense at his disposal. Hence why we are keeping a close eye on this one.
The Denver Broncos are just this major piece away from once again challenging in the AFC West. Hence, placing a solid, competent arm on the team could just be the thing that puts them back in the hunt.
