NFL Free Agency: Five Landing Spots for AJ McCarron

On Thursday, Cincinnati Bengals reserve QB AJ McCarron won a grievance that he filed. The grievance allowed him to become a free agent at the end of the league year. With his addition to the free agent QB market, things could get interesting. Aside from Kirk Cousins, McCarron could be one of the most talked about free agents this NFL offseason. After saying all that, where could he land? We look at five possible landing spots for AJ McCarron.

  1. Buffalo Bills

It is no secret that the Bills will be in the QB market. They will more than likely be cutting ties with Tyrod Taylor. Thus, after the failed experiment with Nate Peterman, the Bills will have to do something. Hence, AJ McCarron makes perfect sense. He has all the intangibles that a team could look for. Also, teaming him up with players like Zay Jones and LeSean McCoy give him a set of weapons he can lean on.

  1. Arizona Cardinals

The Cardinals make an interesting stop for AJ McCarron. We know that they will still have the services of WR Larry Fitzgerald for at least one more season. Also, they should be getting star RB David Johnson back from his broken arm. Those two, along with the young TE, Ricky Seals-Jones gives the young QB players to build with. Fitz can be that veteran piece McCarron leans on.

  1. New York Jets

The Jets make another interesting stop on the McCarron Tour. Last year, with respectable QB play from Josh McCown, the team had a decent offense. The Jets have a respectable running game with Bilal Powell. They have a solid TE in Austin Seferian-Jenkins. However, the legal issues with Robby Anderson could deplete the weaponry. McCarron would have a returning Quincy Enunwa and Jermaine Kearse still at his disposal.

  1. Cleveland Browns

The Browns will be major players in the QB market. Especially now with the entrance of AJ McCarron. The Browns attempted to trade for the young QB back in October. However, someone in the Cleveland organization forgot to send the paperwork over to the NFL league office. Therefore, the trade fell through. Browns new GM John Dorsey is already making this team better. Hence, this could be the move that starts the ball moving up.

  1. Denver Broncos

This could become the ideal landing spot for AJ McCarron. The Broncos were going to be major players in the chase of Kirk Cousins. However, after the rising contracts in the QB market, they have slowly faded from those talks. With a player like McCarron now available, the team could be prime at a run. Bringing in a younger veteran arm could be what GM John Elway needs to put his team back on the NFL map. It would also not break the bank.

AJ McCarron is going to be one of the most targeted free agents in March. It will be interesting to see what his final numbers are. We have 26 days until the league year starts.
