NFL Playoffs: Buffalo Bills at Jacksonville Jaguars – Preview, Predictions, TV Info

On Sunday afternoon, in the second of two NFL AFC Wild Card Games, the Buffalo Bills take on the Jacksonville Jaguars. Both teams are making a return to the playoffs after years away in this game. For the Bills, it is the first time since 1999. For the Jags, it has been 10 years. Therefore, what can we expect from this game?

Jacksonville Jaguars

The Jaguars are playing very good football. As many predicted they won the AFC South and were the third best team in the conference. They come into this game well rested and advance to next round.

The offense for the Jacksonville Jaguars will be key on Sunday. QB Blake Bortles will need to continue on his current path. He is playing very well and has squashed all talks of the Jags looking outside for another QB. If he can find a rhythm against the Bills passing defense that ranks 20th, the Jags should be very successful on the day.

The Jags defense has been the success of the team. Ranking at or near the top in two out of three major categories has kept this team in control of its playoff destiny. They are young, hungry, and athletic. Thus, they will make big plays that can change the momentum of the game.

Jaguars Regular Season Leaders

Blake Bortles – 315-523, 3,687 yards, 21 TDs, 13 INTs

Leonard Fournette – 268 carries, 1,040 yards, 9 TDs

Marqise Lee – 56 Rec, 702 yards, 3 TDs

Keeland Cole – 42 Rec, 748 yards, 3 TDs

Telvin Smith – 102 (76 solo, 26 assists)

A.J. Bouye – 6

Buffalo Bills

The Bills come into the playoffs as the sixth seed in the AFC. They needed to get some help in the final week to get in. Nonetheless, here they are for the first time since 1999.

Rookie Head Coach Sean McDermott leads his team to a 9-7 record after one season. They went through some question marks during the season. However, they overcame those to get into the tournament.

Offensively they are one of the worst in the league. The finished the season with the 29th ranked offense in the league. That does not bode well for the young guns of Tyrod Taylor, LeSean McCoy, and company heading down to Jacksonville. They are going to have to bring every aspect of the “A” game to be competitive.

Defensively is where the Bills can win this ball game. If they can get to Blake Bortles and make him nervous, they could see some successes on the day. The big key will be to stop Leonard Fournette and the Jags ground game. It is going to be a tough task to ask or the 29th ranked rush defense. They will need to step up if they want to stay in this game early.

Bills Regular Season Leaders

Tyrod Taylor – 263-420, 2,799 yards, 14 TDs, 4 INTs

LeSean McCoy – 287 carries, 1,138 yards, 6 TDs

Jordan Poyer – 5, 1 TD

This game could be the one for the weekend that is not close.
