2018 Chick-Fil-A Peach Bowl Preview
The 2018 version of the Chick-Fil-A Peach Bowl will get underway on 1/1/2018.It will feature SEC power Auburn against the only undefeated school in the nation UCF.
Auburn along the way has wins against 2 of the 4 playoff teams. They have actually faced 3 of the playoff teams this year. They have beaten Alabama and Georgia. However, they have lost to Clemson early in the season. UCF has gone undefeated for the first time in school history. When the 2 schools meet on New Year’s day, it will be the 4th time the schools have played each other. The previous three going to the Auburn Tigers. But this team for UCF feels different, they have been able to impose their will on teams when they have wanted. Their offense is the best in the nation and Auburn will have their hands full on defense.[ESPOAds]
We all know that the prestige is not there for a school like UCF but it’s not always about which school is more prestigious. I.E 2014 UCF team that lost one game and went into the Fiesta Bowl and beat up on a very good Baylor team. Auburn who was one win away from being in the CFP with Alabama instead of Georgia may have a tough time getting up for this one. Auburn might be in my opinion the best team from the SEC Conference but because of the way it played out they are not in. This could be UCF’s time to show the world that they deserved to be with the big boys.
If UCF were to pull off this upset over Auburn, it would be a huge win for the school. It would also give the conference some credibility. In addition, they possibly will get the attention of the nation. UCF has not seen a defense like Auburn this season and as Coach Scott Frost said in his interview “I am not going to compare Auburn’s defense to one that we have seen.” Auburn is fast on defense and they are definitely a blue chip caliber team but UCF is not your garden variety underdog.
Currently, the powers to be in Vegas have the line set at 9.5 Auburn is favorite and the over under at 67.
I do not think this will be a blow out as people are projecting it to be. I do think that it will come down to whose defense steps up and makes the big play. Even though UCF’s offense gets all the accolades that defense has some big talent on it. Including Shaquem Griffin and Mike Hughes. So if there comes a time in the game when the defense needs a stop look for those two to be front and center. My prediction UCF wins the game 49-42 and completes the perfect season.[EspoTwitter]
