Atlanta Falcons Dear Santa

Atlanta Falcons: Christmas List for Santa, Make 2018 Great Again

Dear Santa from a concerned Atlanta Falcons fan,

The Atlanta Falcons are fighting for the NFC South crown this season, but they’ll need some help moving forward. Matt Ryan, Julio Jones, and Devonta Freeman are staples in that Atlanta offense. Atlanta has also made strides on defense. But, as we get ready for the new year, here’s a Christmas list for the Falcons. This list can make the Falcons the best team in the NFL.

1. Make Matt Ryan great in December

During last year’s run to the Super Bowl, Ryan completed over 71% of his passes in December. He also had eight touchdowns and one pick. In December 2017, Matty Ice has a 55.2 completion percentage to go along with two TDs and three picks. If the Falcons want a shot at redemption, they’ll need their Pro Bowl level QB to raise his game.

2. Defense needs more playmakers

Atlanta’s defense is tied with Oakland for last in interceptions with four. Atlanta is tied for 9th in points allowed and they have 36 sacks so far this season. Adrian Clayborn has 9.5 of those sacks and Takkarist McKinley has 6. Deion Jones has been terrific in only his second season out of LSU. Jones has racked up 118 combined tackles and two interceptions. But, to rely on the aforementioned players and Keanu Neal (101 combined tackles) is just silly. The Falcons will need more from the rest of their defensive players if they want to claim a Super Bowl trophy.

3. More depth on the o-line

Opposing defenses have only sacked Matt Ryan 18 times in 2017. Yet, there aren’t many pro bowlers on their O-line. So, as Ryan continues to age gracefully, it’s important for the Atlanta front office to create sturdy o-line for years to come. So, can you imagine the type of numbers Atlanta’s offense would put up if they had that kind of help up front?

Santa, thank you for all the joy you bring to the world! And thank you for taking time out to help the red and black.
