Keenan Allen continues incredible month in victory over the Redskins
Wide receiver Keenan Allen of the Los Angeles Chargers was on a tear that no other player in NFL history has ever been able to accomplish, becoming the first player to have three consecutive games with at least 10 receptions, 100 yards receiving and one receiving touchdown. Though he was unable to extend his record to four consecutive weeks on Sunday, Keenan Allen continued his incredible month in the team’s 30-13 victory over the Washington Redskins in Week 14.
For starters, WOW, what a month!
Allen, who is respectfully referred to as “Slayer,” has been one of the NFL’s most exciting skill-position players of the 2017 season. Making even the most acrobatic of catches look routine, No. 13 is the most reliable target on the entire Chargers offense. The fifth-year wide receiver is making the most of every opportunity afforded him by quarterback Philip Rivers, as the former Cal Bear product has started to forge his place among the top wideouts in all of the National Football League.
If you happen to be a fan of precise route-running and exceptional beard-wearing, Allen will be worth watching for the remainder of the ’17 campaign solely for those fantastic attributes. That being said, he should continue to be slotted in your DFS lineups with an expectation of the same performances we’ve seen over the last month.
Below is a look at Allen’s numbers over the last four contests:
- Week 11 vs. Buffalo: 12 receptions for 159 and two touchdowns
- Week 12 @ Dallas: 11 receptions for 172 yards and one touchdown
- Week 13 vs. Cleveland: 10 receptions for 105 yards and one touchdown
- Week 14 vs. Washington: six receptions for 111 yards
When looking at the statistics above, it goes without saying that Allen is as hot as it gets. The 25-year-old was already having a solid ’17 campaign prior to this last month; a month which would see the entire league take notice as the Slayer dominated opposing defenses on each and every route he ran.
Complete stats for 2017 for Keenan Allen:
- 83 receptions for 1,143 yards and five touchdowns
The Chargers travel to Arrowhead in Week 15 to take on the division rival Kansas City Chiefs, in what will provide Allen with his next chance to keep destroying the remaining secondaries which are left on the Chargers schedule.
Though it should be expected that cornerback Marcus Peters of the Chiefs will return from his one-game suspension for conduct detrimental to the team, it is difficult to say where his head will be at should he return to the playing field.
Look for Keenan Allen to do more of the same against Kansas City; in fact, look for season-highs in receptions AND yards this upcoming week.
