Carson Wentz Injury Update: Philadelphia Eagles QB to Have MRI on Monday

While the Philadelphia Eagles clinched an NFC East title after their win over the Los Angeles Rams, they potentially face some crushing news. Quarterback Carson Wentz left the game with a left knee injury. While reports say Wentz has a serious knee injury, head coach Doug Pederson didn’t want to speculate during his post-game press conference.

Pederson doesn’t have any new information about the star’s injury. It makes sense to not feed into the many reports. Muscle-related injuries aren’t fully known until an MRI is completed. Wentz’s MRI is scheduled for Monday. Until the results are reported, Eagles fans will be holding their breaths hoping this turns out to be less serious than reported. Wentz greeted the team in the locker game after the game, according to Nick Foles during his post-game session with reporters.

Wentz played well in the team’s second straight game on the West Coast. Unfortunately, the star quarterback left with a left knee injury. He was 23-41 as he threw for four touchdowns and 291 yards. As mentioned above, Monday’s MRI will determined the injury’s severity.  In his absence on Sunday, backup quarterback Nick Foles helped drive the team to a key field goal where they took the lead for good.

Pederson continued to preach his “next man up” philosophy during the post-game conference. His positivity related to a few topics is beneficial to the team. Optimism is contagious and that is good news as the Eagles wait to hear about their star’s injury.

All in all, it’s a “wait and see” position here. While reports are suggesting Wentz has a torn ACL, nothing is confirmed currently. Likewise, sometimes injuries look gruesome and severe but turn out to not be as bad. For now, Eagles fans are nervous and cautiously celebrating the team’s NFC East title.

Wentz rode on the back of a cart to the team busses. This doesn’t prove how bad his injury is. However, he was wearing a black brace on his left knee. Again, Nothing is confirmed. Yet, it’s likely he will miss at least part of the season at this point.

If Wentz does miss extended time, Foles showed on Sunday he’s prepared to lead the team. The backup quarterback hasn’t seen many reps with the first team but made the most of it against the Los Angeles Rams. A week of practice with the first team will only build chemistry and connection even better before Sunday’s game against the New Giants.

For now, Wentz’s leaving the game will trump winning the NFC East. However, the next man is ready to step up and Foles showed that during the fourth quarter. Monday can’t come soon enough for the Eagles and their fans as they impatiently wait to hear any news related to Wentz.

Fans may try to be doctors but most of them aren’t real doctors. Eagles doctors will look at the star QB on Monday before ultimately delivering the news
