Arizona Cardinals: They have an unsung hero on Offense
PHOENIX (Dec. 4, 2017)- Rookie tight end Ricky Seals-Jones a bright spot for this struggling Arizona Cardinals offense.
Three quarterbacks, four running backs, and a patchwork offensive line. Injuries have the Arizona Cardinals offense playing musical chairs in many different areas causing a problem with offensive chemistry.
If someone were to go back and re-watch the NFL draft, there is one name that they would not hear, Ricky Seals-Jones. The rookie found the Arizona Cardinals out of necessity. The Cardinals signed Seals-Jones as an undrafted free agent wide receiver earlier this year. Although he started out as a receiver he has found a home as the teams up in coming tight end, learning from the veteran presence of Jermaine Gresham and studying with the great Tony Gonzales prior to the NFL draft. Seals-Jones spoke with the Cardinals communication team prior to the regular season starting saying.
“I knew it was going to be a zero percent chance I’d get drafted,” Seals-Jones said. “I mean, I dreamed about it. I thought about it like, man, ‘What if?’ But at the same time, I’m the type where it doesn’t matter. I’m more of the realist, like whatever happens, happens. If I don’t get drafted, oh well. There are guys in the NFL that didn’t get drafted and are still balling out.”
So what has he done since?
At the moment, in just three games, Seals-Jones has 170 yards on nine receptions with three touchdowns. His longest catch of the season was a 29-yard touchdown pass against the Jacksonville Jaguars on November 26. Watch below.
Here is another impressive catch that he pulled in when the Cardinals visited Houston the game prior. Hence, this was his second touchdown of the game.
As one can see, Seals-Jones not only can run routes but can make the difficult catches. Making him not only a force reckon with but also a diamond in the rough the Cardinals should start or protect.
