New York Giants: Top 3 quarterback options for 2018
With the Giants sitting Eli Manning, they’ve made it clear that it’s best for them to start over. There isn’t much out there and with New York in need of a better o-line and more, they can’t get too picky in developing a championship caliber team for the future. Plenty of other teams are in search of a new QB as well, so there will definitely be a limited amount of quality quarterbacks available. Here are the top five options for the G-men entering the 2018 season.
- Josh Rosen
The UCLA quarterback has shown the most promise in 2017. Not only do the stats back him up, he has the physical tools as well. Rosen has over 3,700 yards passing, 26 touchdowns and only 10 picks this season. Even though Rosen was sacked 26 times, Rosen completed 62.5 percent of his throws. As a result, the Bruins in most of the games he played. The Giants need to bring in a QB that their fans can rally behind. New York needs to develop a young guy that can handle the spotlight and Rosen would be worth the risk.
2. Kirk Cousins
Cousins doesn’t win many games against top-notch opponents. It’s hard for him to handle the limelight. However, if the Giants forego to take a QB in the 2018 draft, then it might be best to snag Cousins. He’s familiar with the NFC East. The possibility of Odell Beckham Jr. returning to New York would finally give Cousins would finally have a top-tier receiver. At the very least this move would bring some excitement back to Giants football.
3. Jimmy Garappolo
Although he hasn’t played in many games as a pro, Jimmy G has shown a lot of promise. There’s no guarantee that the Niners will bring him back for 2018. If the Giants can make a solid offer to Garappolo in free agency, then they don’t have to concern themselves with trying to gamble on a QB in the draft. Jimmy G has been in the league for several years now and he understands what goes into a long NFL campaign, plus he spent time learning from Tom Brady. Yes, there would be some expectations placed on Jimmy G’s shoulders, but he seems like the type of guy that can be cool, calm and collected, even when things aren’t pretty.
It’s odd to see the Giants as one of the worst teams in football. Therefore with the right personnel, they can get back to the Super Bowl in no time. It all starts with that one signature move.
