San Francisco 49ers: Jimmy Garoppolo can be apart of something special
The San Francisco 49ers have named Jimmy Garoppolo their starting quarterback versus Chicago. This is a move that helps the Niners rebuild immensely.
If Jimmy G can perform at a high level, then the Niners have a few options on the table for this upcoming offseason. They could either A) trade Jimmy G and get another draft pick that they can use to acquire a better QB, B) San Fran could keep Jimmy G as their QB and build around him, or C) trade their current first round pick for an All-Star level player.
The Niners could move C.J. Beathard at season’s end. which in today’s NFL will serve any team well, since backups aren’t very high in quality.
For Garoppolo he can be apart of a growing process lead by John Lynch and Kyle Shanahan. The team will need to address their defense as it’s 28th in the NFL in points given up per game.
The San Francisco o-line needs to improve also since opposing defenses have sacked Brian Hoyer and Beathard a combined 35 times this season.
Sure it sounds like a tough task, but the NFC West includes an ailing Arizona team that’s currently 5-6. Seattle doesn’t have much to work with offensively and Pete Carroll is 66 years of age. The Rams are playing outstanding football in 2017. Nonetheless, the NFC is extremely competitive and teams are beating up on each other throughout each division. There is still room for the Niners to get a wild-card spot, next year or the year after. If they take care of their business.
Garoppolo is joining a franchise that hasn’t found much QB success since Steve Young. So if he can protect the football and make key plays, then there should be a lot of good years in Santa Clara, California.
The San Francisco 49ers are in good hands with Lynch and Shanahan leading the way. Both of them are intelligent football minds that know how to win.
