C-USA: What A Way To End The Season

Such a great end to the C-USA Regular Season, with at least half of the teams being bowl eligible. There were some teams were dependent on the outcome of their matchup this week, for a potential bowl eligibility, while others were still searching for their first win of the season! So, with that being said, the recap of the weekend’s matchups are below:

WKU 17 @ FIU 41
Both teams were playing for bragging rights, and the opportunity to have a better bowl game and FIU showed up to play. While the game was back and forth for most of the game, FIU was able to score 28 unanswered, including a terrible fake punt from WKU that ended up fumbling and returned for a touchdown.

North Texas 30 @ Rice 14
Rice was able to jump in front at first with an interception return, but North Texas was able to ride the coattails of RB Nick Smith who rushes for career-high 178 yards and emerged victorious before the C-USA Championship game.

UTEP 7 @ UAB 28
On the whole, UAB was able to celebrate their return to football with their sixth home win. Hence, this ended up making them undefeated at home. On the other hand, with the loss UTEP was unable to close out the season with at least one win on the season.

FAU 31 @ Charlotte 12
Kiffin was able to lead FAU to an unbeaten C-USA season. Moreover, they were able to steamroll Charlotte through the air and the ground. On the other hand, Charlotte was unable to keep up and counter attack the high-powered offense FAU was producing.

Southern Miss 28 @ Marshall 27
Southern Miss QB, Griggs was able to throw 3 TDs to help lead them to a victory. However, when Marshall attempted a two-point convert instead of going for an extra point to tie the game and did not convert, Southern Miss was able to hold on for the victory.

Old Dominion 10 @ Middle Tennessee 41
To begin with, this was a battle of who will become bowl eligible. In short, Middle Tennessee prevailed behind the career game of RB West, who ran for 170 yards and two touchdowns. In fact, Old Dominion was unable to find an answer as Middle Tennessee scored 41 points unanswered to claim the victory.

UTSA 6 @ LTech 20
LTech was able to become bowl eligible against a slacking UTSA team that has fallen off since the start of the season. Consequently, LTech took the lead early, and never looked back, to make sure they would make a bowl game.
