Denver Broncos Rumors: Five spots to trade Demaryius Thomas

The Denver Broncos and Demaryius Thomas look to be heading down separate paths at the end of the season. Reports have surfaced that the Broncos tried, quietly, to trade Thomas at the trade deadline. Now there are reports that they will probably pursue moving on at the end of the season. They feel he lost an edge when he switched to a vegan diet. So, what does this mean for Denver’s 2nd leading TD receiver? Where are some landing spots for him? We look at five targets.

  1. Seattle Seahawks

The Seahawks are always looking to make a deal. Just this offseason they made a deal with the Jets to bring Sheldon Richardson to their defense. Now they could look at making another splash. Adding Demaryius Thomas to this already excellent receiving corps would be stellar. Yes, they have Doug Baldwin and the young Paul Richardson. However, just imagine a player like Thomas if the great northwest. It could look something like this for Russell Wilson.

Demaryius Thomas and Paul Richardson on the outside. You could then move Baldwin back to the slot where he excels tremendously. Let us not forget the big TE in Jimmy Graham as a weapon. The Seattle passing game would be stacked.

  1. Chicago Bears

The Bears are in need of a solid number one WR. They will certainly get back Cameron Meredith back next season. However, he cannot do it all alone. They added Dontrelle Inman at the trade deadline this year, which has been a solid acquisition. Nonetheless, adding a receiver like Thomas could only help the young Mitchell Trubisky.

  1. Cleveland Browns

The Cleveland Browns are in need at every position. They have several WRs on the roster. However, none of them can stay healthy. Rashard Higgins, Corey Coleman, and Kenny Britt have all suffered injuries this season. These were supposed to be the big three for the team. They even tried trading for Terrelle Pryor at the trade deadline and failed.

So why not look at a player like Thomas. He could add size and speed to your offense. He would give the Browns offense something that they have not had in quite some time.

  1. San Francisco 49ers

John Lynch and Kyle Shanahan are not afraid of making moves. Last offseason they shocked the draft by trading with the Chicago Bears, albeit one spot. The two also signed WR Pierre Garcon in the offseason. Now they need to look to add a compliment to Garcon. Especially if they make a move for Kirk Cousins. Heck even if they stay with Garoppolo it would be wise to add a player like Thomas to your weaponry.

  1. Washington Redskins

There is a true need for a number one WR in Washington. The $8 million experiment in Terrelle Pryor failed. The Josh Doctson experiment is taking longer than expected. Although we are seeing what he can finally do. Jordan Reed cannot stay healthy. Jamison Crowder has been inconsistent all year. So you can see there is a need for a big play WR. If the Redskins want to be serious about their receiving group they would look at bringing in Demaryius Thomas.

If the Broncos do choose to move on from Thomas they will have plenty of suitors. It will be the asking price that will make teams shy away. So, what will Denver want in a trade? Overall, I am sure they could get as high as a 2nd round pick for him. Thus, it will be interesting to see how this progresses.
